Any word on a Blast reconfig for the new model year?.... Looking at the new dirt squirter... but if they put that motor in a Blast update, with some lights, a plate and a bigger tank, that maybe the way I end up going..... Come on 2010 |

Yesterday I took a road trip to go to a Buell test ride...while I was there, I was talking to one of the Buell reps...I asked him about a Blast update. He said the Blast will remain unchanged. It was his opinion that the only reason the Blast exists is to supply the riders training programs, and it is at the upper limit for allowed power as it is. If that's true, it's sad that the ONE American manufacturer that CAN produce a world class small displacement Sport Single (or a Twin)...won't. I hope I don't have to go Japanese again (or Italian) to get what I want...on the other hand...that long droning ride to and from the test ride resulted in 72mpg on the Blast. |

It doesn't seem like that much to ask for does it Fast? |

Its not at the upper limits of power, its the front end of the 984 not the 1203, theres some displacement to be had at an upgrade there.... The big thing would be to give it the rumored 450cc plant out of the dirt squirter and maybe update the wheel sizes combo and leave the rest the great package that it is..... |

I didn't mean that the Blast engine is at it's upper limit...power in the mid to high 40hp range would still be streetable and reliable...and can be done pretty easily...if not cheaply...but it still would not be in the same league as other similar sized engines, like the various Rotax, Kawi, and Honda...the new Kawi Er-6 is a 600cc parallel EFI twin with 72hp...if thats not impressive, consider that is the same hp output as the original 900cc Z-1.... The power limit (for a production Blast) as I understand it relates to how much power a bike can have and still be acceptable for the Rider's Edge course... |

I'd love a cool new single from Buell, but I just don't think there's much of a market for it. I suspect most new Blasts go straight to Rider's Edge. The Motor Company has a big incentive to train new riders and sell more Harley's, the Blast does a good job of it. Luckily, the little Blast has a ton of untapped potential as evidenced by all the cool things folks on this forum do to them. |

Why can't Buell have two singles, an updated Blast and A supermoto style 450cc Rotax - both bikes could fulfill cool street roles - Buell could cafe up the Blast in a restyle, just a tad more zing by consolidating to XB motor parts - would still be a great starter with built in potential, and the supermoto street single could be a great corner/goat trail eater and work horse bike - a uly-lite if you will - but a bit more street oriented. And tossed into dirt with but sprockets/wheel/tire changes for serious play there as well. I think both would be terrific singles for Buell to advance. The CR top of the line cafe and the Blast the basic cafe. The 450cc supermoto workhorse/toy/Uly-lite style bike would be another great Buell single to own as well. EZ |

Now that's a good plan, you've convinced me. A Uly-lite would rock. That would be cool and they probably could sell plenty of those. I was just reading about the BMW G650 GS, also a nice little single. I'd love to have a bike like that. You listing, Mr. Buell. I want a Uly-lite! |

I have been jumping up and down stumping for a lighter leaner meaner single 450 DS/SM ever since they announced the Dirt Project/killed it/brought it back (maybe) The first time you dump a 400 lb "Adventuresport" bike, you will want something lighter indeed. DAMHIK |

I dumped my 2005 Triumph Tiger in November. I picked her right back up and rode home with a smile on my face... till I realized later I had destroyed a pannier hehe. Totally different bike though. They are rumored to be making a version with a 675 triple in it, so far it's all rumor though. |

yeah, I looked at the Tiger, I like their Scambler more for off road prowess, but its still a 400 lb bike. Maybe its just the way I ride, I need something lighter, nimbler, with ballz that is STREET Legal. I am not putting a bike in the back of a truck to go ride it off road, thats a waste of a truck and an underutilization of a motorcycle. |

You know all it would take to keep the Blast for Rider's edge and still have better performance would be an FI system and a dual ignition - 2 settings - begginer and Sport settings - easy enough to do, not expensive, and everyone's happy. EZ |
