Hey Guys. I've checked in the section of the forum regarding recalls, and was unable to find anything on it. Last year I got the recall about the fuel tank issue where the piston head can make contact and make it leak. It was at the end of my riding season so I put the bike away and figured I'd deal with it in the spring. So now that spring is here and I never received a follow up letter on the recall (like the several I received for a tailgate cable on my truck lol) I was curious as to what to do. I do realize every recall is for a reason and of course it'd be better to get it taken care of rather than ignore it. I just wish my local Buell dealer wasn't 1 1/2 hours away so it'd make it easier to get it in. I guess what I'm asking is should this be a real concern or is it something that can "wait"? | ||

Too funny Court, thats how I read it too! Call your dealer and find out. If the cylinder head rubs through the gas tank, then thats bad. Fuel will be everywhere and you will be unhappy  See if they can do it while you wait. Make sure they've ordered the parts and schedule the service. Changing out the tank is not that difficult or time consuming. Tell them you need the bike to get to and from work, unless you dont mind leaving it. Or,if possible, wait until you need the 1000 mile service and have it done then. | ||

Yea the piston does not hit the fuel tank otherwise I realize I would HAVE to bring it in.lol I was mainly just curious if anyone here was familiar with that recall and how critical it is. I can certainly make the trip back to the dealer just trying to decide if I should do it before I ride it much more or in another month or so when it's nicer if it'd be fine? And yes, I did get the recall letter last year towards the end of the riding season when I was about to put it away for the year and am just taking it back out again...} | ||

Had my wife's blast done recently. It concerned the tank possibly contacting the head under some conditions. They put in some kind of bracket to prevent contact and will replace the tank if there are any signs of wear. Mr. dealer hasn't had to replace any tanks so far. I gather it is more of a problem in Florida than here in the PNW. | ||

Anyone know what changed from earlier Blasts to the 2007 model that is affecting the gas tank? | ||

I'm not sure. I know we had one problem with an RE Blast. The heat/contact wore through something and it started leaking gas. Very unhappy. |
