Turn signals worked right entire previous season, since bike was built in April, and I figured that maybe I was in the clear. But I went last weekend to wake the bike up from winter hibernation and no, the left one was now out.

Called the general agent (HD Sweden) and said that I have learned that this should be taken care of under warranty. They call back and say that there is no campaign listed for this on my VIN and HDnet US was down so he couldn't see if there was a bulletin. I have searched all threads about this but nowhere can I find a reference to an official bulletin or similar document. Can someone in the know please provide me with such bulletin details so I can get them replaced without too much ordeal? All I can gather from the threads so far has been that tell the dealer that this is a warranty item, if no understanding from dealer is received call BMC customer's support. But the latter is basically what I did...

My experience with the dealers and MoCo in this end of the world is not the most friction-less and without proper ammunition I might have to prepare myself for a long discussion until resolve. So I would really appreciate if there is anybody here that can help me out.

I had my right rear go out after sitting all winter. It's $50.00 if you want to buy it. My dealer replaced it under warranty. American H-D Ann Arbor, MI.

But at these replacements, did the dealer make a reference to a bulletin number or any other official service issue from BMC/HD? Because if they didn't and I will have to rely on the goodwill of my dealer I am probably out of luck.

And over here that stings a bit. Two signals at $50 in the US would roughly cost me $400 here. That is how much replacement parts prices inflate when they are shipped over the Atlantic.

So that is why I am eager to get a bulletin number as the dealer is questioning that this is a warranty issue.

Same thing happened to me. left over winter, came to start her up again and found left rear indicator wouldn't work. got it replaced under warranty but they didn't say anything about a bulletin, just that they cost £45 here in the UK.

So, am I getting this right? A number of owners with blown turn signals have gone to their dealer and the dealer has voluntarily and on his own service-mindedness offered to replace them to the customer without cost. The dealer has then on his own had to take the discussion with BMC about getting a refund. All this without a BMC official notice.

I don't buy that. Not many dealers would gamble on the refund, they know from the start that they will be reimbursed. So logically there must be an official BMC notice.

From what i gather from earlier turn signal threads this is a known issue by BMC and the new generation turn signals have a white stripe on the connector cables. Therefore the new signals should have a new part number or at least a new revision. Changing a part like that should lead to a bulletin or service errand at BMC and that notice is what I need to convince my dealer at this end of the world that they actually should replace my signals free of charge. That is the only way that it will happen as my dealer checks my VIN with the digitech and when he sees no active campaign there is where his interest stops.

So is there please anybody on this forum that has the ability to retrieve this BMC errand reference for me? Because my dealer most definitely won't go the extra inch for me. And over here, going to another dealership is no option. There aren't really many around.

There are no black helicopters . . . sorry.

And . . . there was no memo.

You should have no problem. If you do, drop me a note and I can fix that in about 12.5 minutes.

Easy fix.

Thanks Court,
then I know. I will pursue this with my counterpart as far as I can. Hopefully that will do.

If not, I will gratefully take you up on your offer.

Just ask your dealer to replace them and tell them, if there are any questions, to call their SPOC rep.

I called HD Sweden and talked to the parts guy responsible for the region. He checked the turn signals but said that there was no way for him to see if there was a new and updated version due to the parts handling of BMC. He said that it would have been easy if it had been HD parts to notice the update.

Anyway, I was instructed to call my local dealer and make him do a warranty claim on the turn signals, which I did. And my local dealer is actually a really standup guy so if it was only dependent on him there would be no problem.

So, the ball is rolling and I keep my fingers crossed that when the new ones arrive, they will have a white line on the connecting wires. It'll probably take quite a while before that happens as shipping time is long, but when it does I will post and tell if there is anybody else interested and in the same predicament.

Meanwhile, thanks for your assistance Court. It is highly appreciated.

There is no "white line" that I am aware of.

If you get a chance SEND me your contact info, VIN and dealer info and let's not leave the shipping to chance.

Im going in to get mine looked at, as my left rear has stopped working.

Would it be reasonable to request they replace both of them?

You could ask, but my dealer won't replace a signal that is working properly as a precautionary measure.

If it goes out the dealer will replace it.

Yes, the new ones have a white stripe. But, so did some of the earlier ones.

There is a sure fire way to tell the difference but the easiest thing to do, if yours goes out, is simply boogie into your dealer and have it replaced.

Easy fix.
