i am a potential 2000 or 2002 cyclone buyer i found one of each the 00 has 10000 miles and the 02 has 22000 and about a 500-600 dollar price difference and i am just looking for some advice on what to look for the 02 is at 2800 maybe get it for 2600 the 00 wants 3400-3500 the 02 is in my range both are stock also. just wondering if the 10000 mile difference is anything to worry about for the money difference or any other info thanks |

by 02 they had all the bugs worked out of em. and like anything built by man, you never know what's gonna happen. i'd go with the 02 myself. |

I'd do the '02 as well. Most, if not all, the quirks were gone by that time. |

You can update an 00 to an 02 for $500 easy. |

I'm at just over 23K on my '00. The only major engine problem was my own fault. The 02's have a tach and the updated shifter and primary tensioner. The 00 may have the newer tensioner, tach was an option and shifter could have been updated. With 22K miles the 02 probably had the rocker box gaskets done at least once, hopefully with new spec parts. At 10K the other may not have had it done, but it's really not tough and it's a good way to get to know your new bike. What other parts did I miss guys? Paint options differed some. Can you test ride them? Either of them not stock for intake, exhaust and jetting? PM wheels? All that said, personally I'd go for the lower mileage bike if they were both close to stock. |

Sorry I missed that about them both being stock. Owning that grey/orange bike would be cool... How bad do you want that paint job? It helps that it's a one owner bike, if he's got all receipts it goes a long way towards knowing what you're getting into. 02 is less but has more miles? I'd call that a motivated seller on a moderately high (for resell) bike. 22K is not a lot on these engines, but a poorly maintained bike at those miles can be pretty rough. At least run the engines until they're warm and listen for abnormalities - maybe ride around the block if the road is clear. You've owned other bikes so your know what to check for? Have you checked kbb and nada .com? Snowed here the last couple days, I just got the snow tires off my car too! |

FYI, I recently bought a brand new tach conversion kit from a dealer selling on ebay for $100. Late 2000 model year bikes also may have the updated primary chain tensioner from the factory. You could check the 2000 serial number to see when it was made. You are comparing seven and nine year old bikes so condition and maintenance are prime considerations. Poor maintenance or abuse would be a bigger problem than the subtle improvements made between these two model years. I recently bought a 2000 M2 and couldn't be happier. |

ya the guy with the grey and orange was a loser i know i was one of the first people to call him i saw the bike right after he listed it on craigslist and asked him to send pics and call me and he just refused for some just told me the bike looks great, im not gonna just take his word for it when i live 3-4 hours away pissed me off another guy e mailed me today with another 02 grey and orange but he wants $3900 so i might just have to take a closer look at that 00 i think , still have my bike to sell also , but the weather really is nt cooperating here we're suppose to get 8-14in of snow we have 4in now not to good for buelling!!! |

The grey/orange will almost always cost more. I paid $4500 for mine. Give us some more specs on the grey/orange one for $3900. Any motor work? PM Wheels? anything? |
