Judging by the disclaimer: "Factory stock and race files are Property of Buell." "please save your own stock data." xopti got their dick slapped by Buell and/or HD. Anyway, the race data is pretty much worthless without the actual race ecm. (Message edited by TEEPS on March 26, 2009) |

It use to be there. Your best bet is to PM xopti or get with Al at AmericanSportBike. Either of the two can set you up with what you want. |

Xopti did NOT get slapped by Buell. He made the changes to PREVENT that... |

Anyway, the race data is pretty much worthless without the actual race ecm. That is incorrect. You can flash a normal ecm with the race ecm data. |

His site also says: ****Custom replacement ECM files to released soon.**** It'd be nice to be able to download a pre-tweaked file; hopefully his prices will be reasonable. (Message edited by hughlysses on March 26, 2009) |

no slapping went on. it was a personal decision to remove them. |

Yes you can flash the Eprom; but the engine does not run well, in fact it barely starts. Maybe Xopti will explain why it does not work. |

did you do a tps reset after the reflash? I've done it many times with no problems. |

I am trying to think of a easy way to explain the issue with flashing. If the ECM you are using and the ECM you are flashing onto it are two different kinds, the memory is different and can cause issues. Square peg into a round hole. Its the chips on the inside you can't see. |

Yeah, you can't take the txt file and flash it, but you can alter the data on the non race ecm to be the same as the race ecm. Flash the maps and turn off the exhaust valve. Now the non race ecm = the race ecm. (Message edited by xl_cheese on March 27, 2009) |

So can the Race ECM data from the link Point_doc posted be loaded into my stock 03 XB9S ECM via ECM Spy? |

you can not flash race data to the non race ecm as a eprom file. the ecms are different chips and the electronic hwy is different. you just make a mess of it. there is about only 1/3 of the differences you see in ecmspy and a lot more not shown. the fuel maps and such you see so behind the scene the ecms are different. dont burn the eprom from one to the other. I have always said never copy a race ecm or stock ecm eprom file to the other ecm. it will screw up. you can copy fuel and timing only on the ecms from one to the other. remember sometimes less is more. plus all bikes are different. mike |

you can not flash race data to the non race ecm as a eprom file. the ecms are different chips and the electronic hwy is different. It's possible if ECMs are of the same type. I've done this hundreds of times during EcmSpy development. CB060 to CB060 and GB231 to GB231. These are the only types ever sold as a P&A version. It's even possible to d/l data from the factory race to a IB310 although it not even the same firmware running on these, but data size is the same. |

Guys listen to XOPTI and Id073897. Those guys know their shit. (For those of you who don't know id073897 (Gunther) either wrote or co-wrote ECMSPY) The info they are giving you is right. Personally I have dealt with both at one time or another and my bike runs great, but I would not have touched the ECM without their help. |

"...CB060 to CB060 and GB231 to GB231. These are the only types ever sold as a P&A version." Does P&A, above, indicate a "race" version ECM? ECM Spy reports: BUEGB231 106:P&A came installed on my (used)'04 XB12. PO reported pipe swap only mod. (Message edited by aptbldr on March 30, 2009) |

What are the numbers on your ecm? Each ecm has a number printed on it. this will tell you your ecm type. They should coordinate with cb060, gb231 and so on. Whichever ecm your bike is fitted with will determine how to tune your bike. You cannot just swap info between ecms. The ecm has a location for every piece of information and some ecms have more locations than others (simplified version). If you try to burn the ecm data to an incompatible ecm you will screw up your ecm and have to reflash it. You can put the race data on a non race ecm, but you need to know what you are doing or pay someone else to do it for you. Either contact Al at American Sport Bike or talk to xopti. |
