I'm considering installing a Sigma bicycle computer on my XB9. Apparently many cyclists do it to take advantage of more accurate speed, elapsed trip times, clocks and other useful stuff of the computer. The only "tricky" aspect of the installation is where to mount the magnet. The sensor would go on the inside of the front fork. It looks like the magnet would have to go on the edge of the wheel. Anyone done this on an XB? |

That would be very difficult because of the upside down forks. You need the part that the magnet sticks to to be stationary with the wheel. |

How bout inside the fender via double sided tape (or other appropriate adhesive)? As for the 1 on the wheel, maybe some silicone so it's not 'permanent'? |

I believe the fender would work. |

Yes you do need me. I got a similar system on my bike, I have the magnet on my rear brake rotor.

Those were those horrible Sato sliders, I couldn't get them off, they came with the bike. I cut them off and put on some Dark Horse Moto composite ones Those rims haven't been on my bike in almost a year now. |

Thanks, Froggy! I've been eyeing the Veypor as well. Does it perform as advertised? Does it accurately reflect what gear your are in? Did you use a supplied magnet or something else? How did you adhere the magnet to the rotor? Your advice is appreciated! |

Once it is all setup and dialed in, yes!

99% of the time. Sometimes when going under 30 in 5th it bounces between 4 and 5, otherwise its great. Shiftlight is awesome too!

Yes

That Uly I bought March 1st 2007, wrecked in October, it saw little to no salt! This one is way cooler, and now has James Bond Puncture proof tires |

Froggy: Thanks again. I ordered a Veypor-1 this morning. I'm looking forward to the installation. If anyone expresses any interest I will do a "how-to" with photos. Looks like next weekend for the install. |

Installation is easy. Take off the airbox, splice into the ignition wires for the tach sensor. I will grab all the numbers you need to setup the unit. Power is a bit of a bitch due to wiring it comes with, I don't have a pic of it, but I am spliced into the ignition fuse under the fusebox. The unit itself has no on/off switch so by going with the ignition line the unit turns off when I turn the key off. |

Under shift light settings: Low: 6300 RPM High: 6800 RPM (You got a 9, might want to make it higher, like 6700 low and 7300 high) Velocity settings: Velocity Max: 140 MPH Speed Filter: 2 Weight/Wheel/Launch Bike+Rider, I used 635, I have been meaning to stop at a truck scale and get a more accurate number. The bike is around 440lbs wet, plus your fat ass on top. Wheel Circumference: 770inch/10 Launch Sensitivity: 3 (I haven't played around with it much, seems ok) LED config (These are personal preferences, here is my setup) Brightness: High LED Function: Shift light System Config: Units: Imperial LCD Contrast: 10 RPM Config: Circuit 1, Filter 4, Multiply 7. External buttons: Disabled (unless you got the addon buttons) VIR Sensi.: High (Wont matter if you don't have a VIR addon) Enable Sensors: Both on Time and Date setup: Note that its DD/MM/YYYY, so today is 22/03/2009. I screwed that up the first time! Accelerometer Calib.: Skip it unless yours isn't working right. Gear ratio: Can't be manually inputed, you need to go for a ride. HUD: Skip unless you have the addon. Also, make sure you update the software on your unit, they come out with new features once in a while and yours might of been sitting on the shelf for a while. Under the Fuel Mileage, if you want to steal mine, the Coeff is 12652. I recalibrate mine every once in a while to compensate for changes in the fuel mixture. |

Froggy: The Veypor has finally arrived. I updated the firmware and set up the mounting hardware today. I'm planning on having a go with the wiring tomorrow. I'm not bad at that kind of thing -- I installed and wired a tach on my Blast -- but I haven't been into the Lightning wiring before. Wish me luck! |
