It was a great day for Buell and for Eslick and ya gotta say "THANKS" to Rossmeyer and Geico for providing the support. Although not a complete cure it's just what the doctor would order for a troubled company (H-D).... This win will provide Buells the new ad agency with great material. Congratulations to Eric are in order. I'll be at Road Atlanta cheering for the Buell team(s)! |

Xb984r, WTF is your deal??? You seem to be just looking for reasons to bash Buell and piss on the parade. Those of us who like and support Buell have waited a long time for this, and we know Erik and others at the factory have waited even longer. I'm proud of Buell and happy for everyone involved. Buell didn't write the rules. Buell is just playing by them. The way your ripping them you make it sound like they're cheating. Now hop back on your Monster Energy Drink Kawasaki and go hang out with your own kind, bitter Buell haters. |

Notice I said stock. I thought this was race class was going to be great for racing because the "privateers" were going to have a chance, I guess that only applied to Buell riders, and if anyone believes that the Buell is a "Privateer "effort in the true sense of the word, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. If you think that PRIVATEER teams aren't tuning the bikes as close to the 140HP limit, you're crazy. Yeah, no private owner could EVER tune their bike from stock, right? I mean, that would be crazy. |

Tell me Anony what made Eslick's bike so much faster that the other 1125's That's easy, all the bikes are pretty much the same so it must be Danny |

Way to bitch up Jimmy. Wonder if he'd have acted that way were he beaten by another 600? Then again, there was quite a bit of bitching when Ducati started winning the litre class. I love the attitude of "It's OUR party and if you aren't like us, you aren't invited." |

I don't know the amount of tuning RMR has been allowed on the 1125R. If it is minimal while the 600's are allowed typical tuning, then the performance figures will be close. I am glad to see Buell racing and winning, but I have to admit, the displacement does seem a little of an unfair advantage. Only if Barney and Higbee start taking top 5 finishes would the facts bear that out. I hope Buell can get the 1125 competitive in Superbike where it belongs. |

The tuning and weight of the bikes are dictated by the sanctioning body as I understand it. I'd be willing to bet you may expect to see very competitive 1125R's in Superbike . . . but it's as "apples to apples" as they sanctioning body can make it now and Buell had far less pull than the folks who have dominated for years. If a factory team or rider had thought it unfair they should have stayed home and watched on television in protest. The problem with whining after you loose is that it looks ill motivated. As I recall the only thing said by a competitor at Daytona was Bostrom's "damn that thing is fast" or words to that effect. |

"I hope Buell can get the 1125 competitive in Superbike where it belongs" Either I was dreaming or I saw a AMA Superbike race last Sat. night where our Buell 1125's ran against liter class bikes. If I remember correctly Shawn Higbee qualified 32nd(not really great but in the hunt) and finished 25th. Not a bad start in 1000cc Superbike with minimal tuning. Seemed like a Suzuki dominated race though. Anybody else catch that on Speed channel? |

This sounds like the the 2000 presidential outcome. 50% of the people disagree on principal. Each side still arguing 9 years later. Rules to avoiding arguments - one person one vote - one cc is one cc, period, use it as you may. |

cc can not be cc. 2-strokes? Exotic Fuels? Turbocharging? Traction control? Re-programming engine and traction control through 2-way telemetry during racing in real-time? Exotic metals, ceramics and composites in engine internals? |

I am glad to see Buell racing and winning, but I have to admit, the displacement does seem a little of an unfair advantage. Again, why does it matter what the displacement is if the HP is the same? If I had a 400c.i. V8 engine putting out 200HP, and you had a 2.5ltr I-4 engine putting out 200HP, why are you at a disadvantage? Now if there IS a HP difference between bikes, the weight difference is supposed to soak up that difference. |

"Either I was dreaming or I saw a AMA Superbike race last Sat. night where our Buell 1125's ran against liter class bikes." I saw that too, but I doubt Buell could get a top ten finish with Mladin himself on board. I could be wrong though. I am looking for a lighter 1195R with traction control. Then we will be talking. Is it too much to ask for a US manufacturer to be able to build a sportbike that can beat the world on its own terms? |

The 1125 is a TWO YEAR OLD platform. There is much tuning to be done to that engine. I do not believe that 146HP is the best that it can do. |

"Again, why does it matter what the displacement is if the HP is the same? " That is what I was saying when I referenced state of tune. We do agree that a stock or lightly tuned 1125R puts out comparable hp to a highly tuned 600, right? The superior torque of the Buell is certainly an advantage. Is it enough to overcome the weight disadvantage? That is yet to be seen but the way they squirt out of corners faster than the I4's suggests it might be. |

I want a 4 cylinder 500cc two stroke with a couple of turbos mounted. I'll be happy to spot those 600's the 100 cc's and I will kill them. Let me burn methanol and my bike will lap the field. Shoud be allowed because it is within the only thing that matters; the cc's. |

The 600cc bikes are lighter, and due to their engine packaging, should have more forward bias giving them a handling advantage. It road racing, it's not all about HP. It's about weight, handling, braking, etc. For YEARS the naysayers have been saying that the ZTL brake is crap. Well...then wouldn't that be a handicap for the Buell? Wouldn't the extra weight be a handicap? I love the hipocracy, when Buell was losing, they were pieces of $hit. Now they win one race, it's because they have an unfair advantage. LOL!! Sour grapes! [Sarcasm on] I'm SURE that DMG is in kahoots with Buell, a tiny little company who has FAR less dollars than any of the other manufacturers competing. I mean, hey, I'm sure Buell has enough cash laying around to make all the DMG officers and officials rich beyond their wildest dreams. Guess THAT'S why they allowed the 1125 to compete. [Sarcasm off] Come on haters. Make up your mind. When the 1125R came out, you chided it because it didn't have 180hp. You poked fun at it because it didn't have a "normal" front brake set up. Now that it's seeing some racing success, all the sudden it's "unfair" to run them with hopped up 600's. Can't have it both ways folks. Make up your mind. I guess it would be "fair" to put the 1125 up against 180-200hp superbikes supported by millions of factory dollars and ridden by world class riders making millions. Oh wait, they ARE doing that. So why aren't you all complaining about how unfair it is for the Jap bikes to make so much more horsepower over the Buell. Maybe DMG should take a page from NASCAR and go to restrictor plate racing. Cap HP and make all bikes even regardless of other advantages/disadvantages. |

Oh yeah..and rules are rules. Could the other manufacturers make an 1125 V-twin and compete? Humm...I bet they could. Maybe Honda should revive the RC51. |

"I saw that too, but I doubt Buell could get a top ten finish with Mladin himself on board. I could be wrong though." Did you see yesterday's results yet? *Warning, Spoilers at link* http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?artic le=35926 He's not there yet, but if Shawn can keep working (and hopefully get a couple sponsors), I have faith he can put that old clunker in the top 10. Give him 30 more HP and I'll bet he could at least be smelling Mladin's tail-pipe. |

I'm sorry, you guys. I'm glad you're all happy and such, but I CAN'T get excited about a bike that pounds out more horsepower, more torque, and more displacement than the competition WINNING races. Jeez, if that bike CAN'T beat 600s then what's the point?? And I'm not the only one who feels that way. Once you get past the legions of loyal Buell fans, it seems the vast majority of people think it's STUPID to run that bike with the 600s. I feel BETTER when Higbee comes in something other than last place in Superbike than I do Eslick winning Sportbike. http://www.superbikeplanet.com/getVote.jsp?pn=buel l0321 |

"Could the other manufacturers make an 1125 V-twin and compete? " Chad Ducati has a 1098, KTM has a 1190, why aren't those allowed in?It's not like Buell built the bike after the class rules were made, DMG made the rules to allow the 1125 in, why did they leave out the other 2 brands? |

You know guys/gals. This is a Buell website. So I'f u can't get over the sucess od Jap's and whine and cry, then what are you doing here? Go to cow-a-socky's, Yamahammer, or sue-sucky's web and bash on them!!! Cowards! And here we go, you got to start somewhere, so why the anamosity? Are we so arrogrant about AMA that we should bend the rules? This is America, we love ourselves so much the whole world hates us. But they keep on coming onto our borders!!! Get used to it! Buell is going to be competive and have as good a chance od a championship as anyone! Oh yea....waaaa There, I cried for you. Quit bitching and support Buell, buy one, ride one, race one, if you got the gonads! Go Buell!!!!!! |

Chad, nicely put. You put into writing almost everything I was thinking. Why didn't Danny Eslick just go straight to the superbike class from the start? Maybe it was because Buell didn't make the rules, they're just playing by the rules put forth by the AMA. They put a guy in there with a real shot at winning races, and now that he has, the losers can't take it. Also, look at Ducati. They have the 848 and the 1098. If displacement was the only key to winning, don't you think they would run the 1098 in the Sportbike class and smoke everybody? No, because tuning the 848 to meet the horsepower limitations in the Sportbike class results in a more competitive bike than running a detuned 1098 in the same race. |
