My ignition key appears to be going bad. From time to time when I turn it on, the dash doesn't light up and the turn signals won't work. If i wiggle it a little everything lights up.

I haven't had time to look into it lately with all my other to do's, but has anyone else had a problem here? I have to assume it's contained within the ignition and there is little chance of fixing it myself without a new one, right?

If I do need to get a new one, can I order one that will still match my trunk or should I order a matching trunk lock at the same time?

My Uly has done this a couple of times. Turn the key on and nothing, wiggle it a little a all is well.

Likely a new ignition switch is in order sometime soon.

I was wondering the same thing about the seat lock.

My XB9R did the same thing. You can fix it yourself if you are handy with a solder iron, if not, you can buy the dongle portion of the switch from the dealer for about $30 dollars.
The wire harness part of the ignition switch runs down through the center of the fairing mount and whenever you turn the handle bars from lock to lock it pulls the wires in the switch harness causing them to fatigue and eventually break.
On the underside of the ignition switch there are 2 phillips head screws that hold the wiring dongle to the key portion of the switch. Remove those screws and also trace where the connector at the other end of the harness is connected and disconnect it.
Fish/Pull the wire's and connector up through the fairing mount.
Now it is ready for repair or replacement.

My ignition wire came loose..Might want to check that if you haven't

Thanks, for the heads up guys, I'll check into soldering it first. I'd prefer not to spend the money if I don't have to. You all are great.

It's a little tricky to get the ignition switch body apart.
The body snaps together, so you have to be careful and patient when pushing and prying the tabs to open it up.
