Hmmmmn.....9 more horsepower, 30 more lbs. of vehicle weight = 2% poorer power-to-weight ratio. Yup! Certainly worth another $5K+ for the Italian looks. Or, maybe not... Having said that, you can buy a new 'Vette for $50K that performs as well or better than an F430 Ferarri at $140K. Yet Ferrari sells every F430 they can build. Different strokes and all that. |

Correction: just released late yesterday, revised dry weight of the Duc is 370 lbs. Original reports had it at 405. Could have been 'wet' weight. Anywho....the point remains - are the Duc's looks worth another $5K? Maybe, maybe not. Clearly a subjective decision. |

Car prices must be cheaper than where I'm at. Can't get a new Vette (Z06) that competes with the 430 around here for $50K and the 430, average sticker (non spyder) is about $220K new without mark up. I do some work for the Ferrari dealer here and there is a waiting list for 430's. |

Rfischer Posted on Thursday, March 26, 2009 - 09:02 am: ...the point remains - are the Duc's looks worth another $5K? ....... yes but the same goes for all manufactures. Buell could charge more too if they spent more time in aesthetics. Supply and demand |

Where the Japanese have succeeded is in providing the highest performing product for the lowest price. The manufacturing is good and dependable, but it isn't Italian. It's attractive, but not TOO attractive (higher cost for higher end components, more design). The Japanese also are very good at doing minor cosmetic changes while keeping the basic platform unchanged (SV, KLR, Ninja 250, TL, 'Busa). The Italians provide stunning every time out of the box. KTM does as well in their own "I'm Dieter, touch my monkey!" sort of way. High end components, radical designs, fantastic designs. Buell is somewhere in between. I don't want Buell to become the next Japanese bike manufacturer. We'll leave that to BMW and their G650X and S1000RR platform. |

Good deals in this area . . . . this is from last Saturday. Three of the neighbors have popped up with new Ferrrari's but it looks like there are plenty left on the lot. This is from the weekend before out in Long Island . . . guy came in wanting to trade this. You can baaaaaarely see my prize white Ford pickup hiding in the right hand . . .well out of door ding range!

Great pics Court. For anyone who hasn't seen a window sticker on a 430. Those badges (emblems) on the front fenders are about a $1500.00 option and ceramic brakes are about $15000.00 option. It is an amazing automobile and sometimes challenging for dent removal. In a good way of course. (Message edited by dentguy on March 26, 2009) |

16.5 for brake upgrade and badges How much time on this website do we pine about what the bikes and parts cost these days? My XB used was 5 grand. I could buy 3 of them and die happy- or own a hood ornament and a set of brakes,,, Thank goodness this isn't Porsche forum or I'd not be getting through to a lot of guys right now Bubba says- cool |
