Trying to search and maybe I'm missing it (so sorry if there is a thread on this) but does anyone make wire rims that'll fit an XT? Thanks for any info. |

Yes, they are wildly expensive and you forego the ZTL braking system. That means you will have to source a hub that will fit the Buell axle or swap front ends. A 19" wheel would be nice but due to the aggressive geometry it ain't gonna fit. A 17" spoked wheel is of no more use off-road than a cast 17". Again, yes I have seen them on a show bike(Buell Lightning) so it is possible, but... they are expensive and offer no performance advantage. You'd probably have better luck convincing Continental to manufacture a 120/70/17 knobby. Good luck with that too. NUTS |

The wire front wheel at Hillbilly Motors has a ZTL brake. Lance- what's your interest in wire wheels? Since you've got an XT, I assumed it wasn't anything to do with off-road. |

Thanks everyone. I just like the look of the wire wheels. And since my XT is strictly for on-road use I thought I'd look into them. However, it might be too rich for me at this time. |

Wire spoked wheels are a huge asset to an off road bike. You can true them with a rock if need be. and can replace the rim only if need be when you get home. |

Just an idea - go to ADVrider and check an on going thread "Ask Woody Your Wheel Question"- as I understand it Woody is a top notch wheel builder who is not afraid to tackle any wheel configuration. Appears to be very good at what he does . |
