Just got back from a 800 mile round trip Saint Paddy's Day getaway. Drove Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway to N.C. border, and then shot over to the New River Gorge W.V. First time at the gorge. All I can say is AWESOME! My bike ran like a swiss watch.

No, We did a u-turn back north on the brp, and took the Floyd exit to Radford. My daughter is going there, so I caught a quick visit. I am planning a ride to the dragon in April if I can talk my wife in to it...lol |

Rich, sorry, I was thinking N.C. We took 20 to sandstone, and then b-line on I-64 to 19 and got to the bridge for daylight. |

I live ~2 hrs from Hawk's nest and 2.5 from NRG. The rides in that area are wonderful. Seem to be made for a Buell or light handling bike. If you make it down 60 or 61 stop in Montgomery WV home of WV Tech. There is a tiny chinese restaurant with traditional chinese food. The people are great, the food is Awesome. Best I have ever had in a chinese genre. The really crappy thing here is due to the nature of building on hill sides gravel and debris can be ANYWHERE. Have fun. Rich |

great pics and i know you had to enjoy the ride. been through that way many times going back to pittsburgh and i think that's the bridge that once a year they allow base jumpers to go off of. my oldest brother was supposed to do that one time. |

It was a great ride. The bridge is certainly a modern marvel. Lots of great history. Neat to think that the coal from the area is what made our country what it is today. Cant wait to go back again. |

It is funny looking at those wonderful pictures, I found myself thinking what sport bike was his buddy riding. You can ALWAYS spot a Uly, but most sport bikes you have to look for the manufacturers name. I like being unique. |

One of the Bond movies had a scene shot there. If I recall correctly a motorcycle jump over the side and the rider grabbed a net dragged behind a cargo plane. I have stopped there many times on my way to and from Fla and Penna. Did you walk down the stairs under the bridge to the lower viewing area? There are placards that explain the bridge's construction and such. A nice walk and view after a long ride. |

I rafted under that bridge back in the 80s and had a ball - I'd love to ride across it as an adult now! Except there was strange banjo music echoing around the canyon...ha ha...kidding... |

Ever ride your traveling buddies VFR? If so what do you think of it? I almost bought one of those before I got my XT. Same color even. I know I made the right choice but I sure do love the look of that bike. May have to test ride one sometime to get the bug out of our more than likely further in. |

never stopped to look around, always in a hurry. since the future daughter in law didn't get excepted to mary mount so she could get her master's, she might be going up to morgantown to get into the sheriffs dept. and if she does, looks like i'll have another place to go and visit which will more than likely take me across the bridge again. but thenext time i'm up that way i will stoop vern. |

We did trade bikes for about 100 miles. The VFR is a great bike, very smooth and handles good. At about 6000 rpm's the "V-Tech" kicks in and two more valves come in to play. It produces a nice kick in the pants. You do need to know when it is about to kick in however, especially while riding in the twisties. It took a few miles to get used to it. The Uly is far more comfortable on the longer rides, and nothing beats the torque of the Uly motor. Honda does make some nice machines, fit and finish is excellent, and it is easy to see the oil level. (sight glass) By the way, his mufflers are'nt rusty either. |

Fayette Station is the bomb - especially after the spring rains and snow melt! |
