I have a 1997 s1 lightning. Does anyone have a good connection for new or used front rotors harley wants $400. My stock one is loose it sounds like a tambourine even hardware to repair the old (different spacers or shims) would be ok.

American Sport Bike has EBC rotors for just a bit more than half of that price.

Have a 1997 S3T with that rotor ...

Rather than buy a new rotor, "i" just shimmed it to where it did not rattle ...

EBC is a great rotor.

If your rotor is one of the early ones that bolts together (instead of the press-fit rivets), you can still get the wave washers from the dealer to quiet the rattling. If your local guys can't find the part number, drop me a PM and I'll find it for ya : )

John,

PM me with an addy. I have a bunch of wave and flat washers from a couple different anti rattle kits.

Best to check the rotor carrier for wear. Does it rock fore and aft?

or

Just shake and shimmy left and right?

The rattle is a good indicator of excessive wear in general. Make sure that you do all the checks called for by the manual. The radial movement was out of tolerance on both my rotors.

I doubled up on the wave washers to get rid of the jingle rotor as long as it does not move front to back.

"i" used two wave washers and enough flat washers to shim them up ...

mine has alot of front to back play maybe it is time for a new one and the bolts would definitely need heat to remove them.

I think I'm going to buy the one from american sport bike. Thanks for help, did not want to give harley $380 for a stock rotor.
