Newbie questions, sorry... Looking under the rear pillion seat I see a wire looped each site of the screws that hold the pillion grab strap on... What is it... Also, what is the raised peg under the pillion seat, It looks like a helmet lock. Correct? Anyone use it? |

I use it to loop thru the d ring on my helmet, then onto said helmet lock. It's just a carryover from my XB days. |

The helmet hook is also a nice chassis ground terminal, as I have found... |

Someone said you could use it to lock 2 helmets to the hook, but I don't recall how. |

It is called a security cable..for helmet, etc. It is only on 2008 1125R and Firebolt. It is not included with 2009 1125R/CR..since i work for Buell at HD dealership. Since i bought a 2009 1125CR and checked all the new bikes..not included on the seat anymore or in tool bag as it is on Firebolt. I called HD special point of contact and wondered why the 1.88 part was not included with new bikes, they said it was a carryover. But if you look on our parts list it shows the part number included with tool kit for 2009. They were looking into it...there are also a few other things not on the 1125R that the firebolt has such as grommets on the tail section but not included in parts list on 2009. Oh well... Oh well... lol, yep i noticed that the day i uncrated it and started tearing mine apart. thought the forgot them until i noticed they werent listed in the parts book for the 1125. i suppose if you take 25 cents or whatever it is, and multiply it by the thousands it does add up.... |

maybe im just in a bad mood but you knew what i meant and seeing it hasnt been answered theres no point to joke. ughh actually it has been answered a couple times unless im missing the question. just seems like no one wants to pay attention to the answer. here are the answers already given to what you ask... use it to loop thru the d ring on my helmet, then onto said helmet lock. It's just a carryover from my XB days Someone said you could use it to lock 2 helmets to the hook, but I don't recall how. It is called a security cable..for helmet, etc here's a new answer thats basically the same just worded different... the wire(that i have no idea how you would ever unscrew a wire?) is used to loop through the d-ring or around the chin bar of your helmet and lock it to your bike if needed. or as an extention to reach another helmet by hooking it through the d-ring and onto the hook on the bike.} |

ok well ill re-phrase.... the "wire" is held on by 2 screws, wich are screwed into the seat, wich also hold on the strap for the pass. seat...... to get the wire off you need to unscrew the SCREWS in the seat? also how would you use it for 2 helmets? put it through the "d" ring of both helmets then on the helmet lock and let both helmets dangle from the side of your bike with a metal wire rubbing on your nice shiny plastic to scratch it all up and look goofy? |

i would assume you would have to unscrew those screws then. and then put them back in with the wire removed. after that you just store the wire in the tail section. as far as i would figure on the 1125 you hook the d-ring of one helmet on the hook in the tail. then you loop the wire through your other helmet d-ring or chin bar. loop those ends over the hook in the tail. figure out a decent way to hang them and there ya go. honestly, i have had 3 firebolts and my 1125r and none of them have ever had that wire. i have seen them before though. |

k thanks ill see what i can figure out! thats was the kindareply i was looking for. i guess i was just on a short fuse earlier and after reading some other posts with other people recently on here, i kinda got mad. but thats what iv heard from a few ppl that not all 1125r's have it. and its not very long its basicly a loop with the middle shrink wraped so its a figure 8. |

And, I have to say, you have a point about scratching your plastic up. I have never personally used the loop, but have been tempted. I'd like to hear more about how it's SUPPOSED to work. |
