ATTENTION PLEASE... ATTENTION PLEASE... I will not be posting any minutes of the Thursday night BRAG meeting. This is being done in exchange for the promise of lots of beer... I have concluded that some things said and done during the meeting... should stay at the meeting. ASSUMING I GET THE BEER PROMISED!!! Otherwise... I just have one question to ask. "Is is live... or Memorex?" I bet y'all forgot one of my job specialties is electronic surveillance... concealed cameras and such devices... YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!!! (Insert evil and maniacal laughter at this point!) Sam said... Frank said... ______________ happened to Frank Bill said... Jeff disconnected_________ from his company truck. I could go on listing other names... or just post a transcript... if the beer gets cut off!!! BUT for publication... a bit over a dozen Mobbers attended the meeting... and Sam was the drawing winner for the Tippin's pie certificate. I would like to invite everyone to congratulate Sam on his change in luck... (it does not cancel the tragic loss of his crank bearings). So in a small way things have made an upward turn for the little fella! To show our support... lets all meet at Sam's garage for seized beer (shoulda been at the meeting!) and pie!!!

I was talking with John last night and we were discussing Colorado and were wondering if the dates have been set as of yet?...Also what about the itenerary?...Are you planning on riding from a centralized location or touring staying at different points each evening and returning to the start point at the end of the tour?...Here's a site that John found a while back that will give you some ideas regarding nice roads... http://my.execpc.com/~ytk/frames3.htm Thanks, Bob |

Bob Sam and I have been talking about going to Colorado in some manner or form since leaving Arkansas last year. BRAG is doing a trip there in late September but we are not totaly commited to this concept. prior to BRAG scheduling an event in Colorado, we were discussing the Estes Park area. Everything is kind of up in the air at this point. So any idea's that you might have on a ride to Colorado will definately be considered (especially since you have always seem to lead us in the right direction on these types of trips!). I would prefer to base out of one or two areas just because of the little boss, but we can work around almost anything as long as she can get to a mall or two! The only thing that we ask is that it is not this spring due to a couple financially devastating events that going on during that time period. What are your idea's or suggestions?? Keith |

I think that I would prefer NOT to do the BRAG thing as they seem to be too focused on the dealers as opposed to the riders...This was not the case in the past with BRAG rides in AR and Deals Gap...Instead of going for the great roads they're linking together dealers...That said, I am speaking only for myself, not John... Why don't I start a thread on the Quick Board and see what road info we can garner from the buffaloes that may be grazing out there...Watch for it... See Ya! Bob

A dealer to dealer trip ought to fit in great with thier $100 plus a night hotel preferences they seem to choose for these events. |

Maybe you folks can help me. My 99 X1 stalled about 15 sec after starting the other morning. It turns over fine but won't fire! I checked and there are no blown fuses and I also swapped the relays with no luck. My only clue is the code it gave me. 16 low battery. Does this bike need that much juice to fire after it's turning over at normal speed? I put a charger on it and I will try again in a few hours. Is there anything else I should be looking at? I already pulled plugs and established fuel and plugs look good. I haven't visually checked plugs for spark. I wish I had a garage for this work!! Maybe some cool tools with tape on them as well!! |

X1DB... When I picked up my XB... it was cold weather... rode it home from the dealer and the weather turned worse. Two days later I went out to ride... turned on the key and absolutely nothing... (the battery was bad... it was replaced under warranty) no active gauges... no fuel pump whine... nothing... I charged the battery for a couple of hours... turned on the key... the gauges sweep... but the fuel pump is silent and it won't crank... I let it charge a couple a more hours... finally the fuel pump whines, but the starter relay just clicks. I ended up starting it by jumper cables from the Blast (Sharon's bike). There was a voltage threshold for gauge activation and a different level for fuel pump activation and a higher one to have the power to crank. The charger was a Battery Tender... a very low rate of charge. On my BMW... if the voltage level is low... the bike will start and run... but the ABS brake system will not setup and activate, until the battery charges to proper level after the bike is ridden a few miles... and if the battery is weak... it won't charge to a level the ABS will set... that happened once... a new battery fixed that. There may be a voltage level that pertains to things firing... but I would think if it cranked... it should reach that voltage level to fire also. I am thinking it sounds to me... if it will crank... there should be sufficient voltage to fire. If it was carburetor equipped bike, I would be wondering if it were flooded... I don't know how easy it is to flood a fuel injected bike? All I know... probably does not help... OH FRANK... you out there!!!!!!!!!! |

Well, add me to the list of FORCE EXHAUST OWNERS with a broken pipe!I was assembling my exhaust on my newly powder coated bike, and noticed some exhaust coloring on the underside of the pipe on the back cylinder.I thought to myself, now why is that there!!I took some cleaner and was cleaning the spot and felt the pipe,it is split about 3 inches from the end of the pipe, and split about three inches long.It looks like there is a line from the split and it goes all the way to the end of the pipe.My guess is its split all the way to the end but the ceramic coating may kinda be holding it in place for now!So back to the slip-on!I will call Force and see about the pipe spliting, but I know what that responce will be..........I may take my pipe to Belton and see if Dave can grind the coating off and fix it for me,if it can be fixed,he can fix it. |

Dwayne, How old is the battery? Might not have enough juice in the battery to turn it over fast enough. I ran into the same sort of problem last spring. I switched the battery and the problem went away. If that is not it, I would start looking at the O2 sensor or the ambient air sensor. My first guess would be the battery though. Keith |
