It's been almost 2 years since I had to put my 18 year-old Frisky down. I still miss her like crazy. I used to walk her every day and now I hardly ever go out for a walk.

Rat- So sorry for your loss.... wife and I have two furry kids and lost our furry niece last month... we are worried about our 13yr old now... she has out lived all of her relatives... we always feel lucky to have them in our life and to have shared most of theirs...
Again, our thoughts are with you and your family.. hugs the two siblings too.... they lost someone too...

Sorry for your loss Ratbuell. I am a receptionist at a vets office and have to face this every day. The last best thing you can do is make the pain stop for them. Remember,dogs have no idea of death, they just live every day to please you. My dogs were also hugged in her honor BEV |

Well I just got back from two and a half days of riding and got a big ole' hug and sloppy wet bunch of kissing from my black lab. I know what you will be missing. Sorry to hear that. |

'Junior' is cute as can be, he reminds me of my Lady, a Beagle, Chihuahua mix.(we think)
What breed is he.
I gave some extra loving to all three of my remaining babies.
P.S. - She was a very tiny puppy, abandoned alongside a road when we found her.

Damn, Rat, that brings a tear to my eye here at work just thinking about it. I'm a total softy for dogs. I'll have to take vacation when mine passes, because I'll be such a mess. You guys hang in there.

A couple of weeks ago I got a rabies vaccination for my 11 and half year old Lab. I couldn't help but think, since it is a three year vaccine. that this would be his last. This is my third Lab and 13-14 years is typical. |

I told you we just lost our Molly.
We have three others.
Well, today, my wife came home with Maggie, a four month old Border Collie.
We will have our hands full for awhile. |

Junior is (supposedly) a Cockapoo. We had to go to a breeder as my insignificant other is very allergic to dogs that shed or something like that. She actually drove from Jersey to the Pensy/Ohio border to get him. We have his uncle (Scooter) as well but Scoot looks like a Cockapoo. I tell the ol'lady that she got hosed and that Junior is some sort of experiment gone awry. She tells everyone he is a "Pocket Lab" as he is really small and full grown. I bet there is a bunch of people looking all over the interwebs for a "Pocket Lab" breeder. |

sorry I just had to chime in with my regrets. Indeed a loss in the family, my heart weighs heavy.
Secretly, I get into kissing fights with my dog and she always wins due to the higher performance slobber.

Just got the word my sweet Lucille (dachshund) of 16 1/2 wonderful years has cancer of the spleen. I am tearing up just writing this. Her time won't be too long off I am afraid. We have had more time with her than most people are lucky enough to get with their beloved pets, so i am grateful for that, but I am not looking forward to the next few weeks. |

Ahh, getting moist just thinking about all this. Got a good Basenji buddy who just turned 16 in January, counting my blessings for the time we've had.
Yep, I'll have to crawl under a rock for a while when he goes. I'll leave my GF a shovel to dig me out after a week or so. |

I had to take my dog of 17 years in a few months ago. She was never a very good dog. Didn't really care to please anyone but herself her whole life. Would never leave our trash can alone no matter how much we fed her. Would crap on the floor if we pissed her off. She was my running partner for quite a few years, I'll give her credit for that. But even then she would just jerk me around chasing everything in site.
And with all that being said, I cried like a little 6 year old girl for a week after having her put down.
I'm gonna be in real trouble when my new one gets to that point. Only had him a couple of months and he is great. I actually like him. I can't imagine how hideous I'm gonna look bringing him in. |

Well, I have to say I have a little brighter outlook on the world in general now. Not only can a guy post to a motorcycle forum about having to put down one of his dogs, and nobody says "get over it, it's a dog and this is a motorcycle board" (one of the reasons I LOVE badweb!), but I also got a couple of very nice condolences cards from the vets who saw her that day.
Maybe...just maybe...it's not *all* people who suck.

Thank you everyone. I still see Kayla walking through that parking lot with me, the last time we'd ever be outside together. It hurts because at that point, she was having one of her 'good' spells - tail up, ears up, a little prance in her step. I guess it was her way of having our last couple hours be good ones, instead of my worrying about why she isn't feeling or acting quite right. My wife still freaks out when she walks in a room and I'm there alone in tears...but we're getting through it. Cute little pug-kisses always help  But, I'm gonna stop typing now before my boss comes over and wonders why I'm crying in my lunch.
Thank you again, to everyone (and to their furry everyones at home with them). I'm sure Kayla feels the love, and she & I definitely appreciate it! |

Sorry for your loss.
Last year we put our 12 year Golden Retriever down. We waited about a week and found it was too difficult without him, so we went out and found a replacement. Now life is even harder! Titan is a full time job! Check your shelters first!

Must be really hard after 17+ years, only had Zeke for 12 & think of him every time I hit the woods or the water but Zoey isn't jealous.
