That's all it took me to get the Buell heated grips put on my '06 Uly last night, and that included tidying up a bunch of prior wiring while I was there (GPS power circuit, my horn relocation / wire re-route, the CR mirrors, and the prelim for my aux lights). I was thrilled it was that easy. Driving force was, it was nice out yesterday so I rode to work with just my turbulent gloves. How COOL to be able to *feel* the switchgear again! Anyway, met the wife after work, around 5, and she had plans for us that included riding until about 8, on errands. Sundown, it got c-h-i-l-l-y. That does it. They're on the shelf doing me no good...time to put 'em on. Best part is, my voltmeter doesn't even show a system drop when I have 'em on |

How did you wire up the grip heaters? Did you use the stock accessory plug or wire them to the battery or some other connection point? I wired up my vest temperature controller to the accessory plug and then found out later that it only works with the key on and then only if the battery voltage is above a certain set point. When the voltage drops below that point, the vest goes cold. Is that how your grips work? |

The Buell heated grips are a plug&play. The kit comes with all the wiring that plugs straight in to the harness. Nice and easy to install. They have two heat settings, well done and burned!! |

+1 - pre-wired with plugs. Disconnect the gray plug in the flyscreen for the power port, plug the grips in-line (there's a M and F plug in the kit, it throughputs the power to the aux outlet), plug 2 connectors in for the grips themselves, it comes with a new switch housing for the R side...very idiot-proof. They even worked for *me*, lol. The grips, on the aux circuit, are ECM controlled and will turn off if the system V drops below the threshold. I have my suit controller wired direct to the battery. I have a Kuryakn voltmeter (LEDs, reads out in 2V increments) on my upper tree between the bars and the gauges so I can keep an eye on things. |
