Hi everyone..I just wanted to chime in on these rough idle/bogging on acceleration/fuel pump blowing fuses. I have a 2007'XB12R w/14000 miles on it. I thought i had issues with my TPS,fuel tank vent hose, leaky intake seals, bad injectors, you name it I took it a part and cleaned it or adjusted it! Well...until I started blowing my 15A fuse associated w/fuel pump. So like a lot of us fellow Badwebers I turned to the knowledge vault. First off it is impossible to fenagle the fuel pump out of the gas tank with out removing the swingarm. Yeah i know somebody will chime in and say they did it, i'm a preety good mechanic and could not get it out after following the directions found in the forum archives. So anyhow after all was said and done pulled the swingarm off, not difficult really, I found pieces of "slag" the cooked metal that forms on the inside of a weld. Chunks of this stuff were obstructing the passage of fuel and finally shorting between the wires of the fuel pump. I snipped the wires, slipped on some shrink tube and cleaned everything, now voila runs great. I know the fuel pump wiring is talked about a lot here, but the slag/metal bits I wanted to share with you guys/gals. It's definatley worth checking if your having issues like hesitation/bogging on hard acceleration etc. And have the capabilities mechanically speaking. |
