So I have the Zumo 550 and want to hook up XM but I am curious where to mount the antenna. Anyone have experience with this? Does anyone make a mount for the uly? Yes I know I am an idiot and cannot spell RADIO (Message edited by chrisrogers3 on March 09, 2009) |

There is a mount you can get that sits right behind the garmin mount. Its basically a piece of bent aluminum, so if your a little crafty you can make it.

These are not very good pictures. But I just used a Strip of Metal and single point mounted mine to the top Handguard fastener. It's been riding there trouble free for 30,000 miles or so. |

Sweet, so what do you guys use for headphones with your Zumos? I was thinking about the speaker setup from Chatterbox (think its like 50 bucks). Typically I just use earbuds and tape them in (helps with wind noise and they dont fall out lol). |

Thought I saw somewhere on here that they made a little bracket, did some cutting and mounted the antenna under the air box. Looked pretty factory and didn't hurt reception as long as they didn't lay down on the tank or put on a tank bag |

That was Maximum that put it under the airbox cover. For headphones, I am not using anything at the moment, haven't found the "right" product yet. The XM radio looks pretty though |

Chrisrogers3: Sweet, so what do you guys use for headphones with your Zumos? I have an Autocom system. I love it, but the cable cost is a bit expensive. It does alot of stuff for me though. I run Bike to Bike through it too. |

Chris, Mounting the antenna on to same Zumo mount (like Froggys) will allow you to move the whole assembly from bike to bike with a minimum of issues. This allows you to have the antenna (which is the XM receiver) on any bike you use the Zumo on. On my Uly, I mounted the antenna on top of the rear tour case with Velcro. Works great. I added an extra "patch" of Velcro on top of the tail light housing that allows me to relocate the antenna when I run W/O the top case. Zero problems on my bike so far, I just don't swap the antenna from bike to bike with the Zumo. mike |

Thanks for all the input guys! I just ordered the antenna today so we will see what I can come up with for a bracket. |
