Hey guys, I need a little help real fast! Im installing my front wheel back onto my XB9S and the axle is torqued down but if my 2 pinch bolts are not tight, I can grab each fork and pull in and out (directly towards each fork and directly away from each fork) and I can see the fork with the pinch bolt slots moving in and out. Is this normal? Should I let it free stand and tighten the pinch bolts and call it a day? im assuming its normal, but I had to consult my local community of Buellers to be sure! after all I don't want the front wheel going crazy on me :-) THANKS!!!! -Robert www.xblights.com |

I personally have never jerked around the front end without my pinch bolts torqued down before to see what happens. So im not sure thats normal or whack. Tighten the pinch bolts and tell us how it acts. Is this movement just around the axle or is the movement coming from the steering head? |

The left fork is just "there" with the pinch bolts loose. If I remember correctly(?), the shop manual said something about pushing down on the handle bars a couple of times to "settle" that fork before you tighten the pinch bolts. |
