Switch issue? Both lights and fuel pump are activated at the switch. How about the gauge faces and neutral light, are they coming on? ~SM |

Sounds like a grounding or battery problem, but you might also try swapping your relays. One is for the engine and the other is for the gauges. If the gauges go dead but the engine starts, then you'll know. |

There are 3 relays: Key Switch, Ignition, Start. Try swapping those around. Double check the Ignition, Key Switch, ECM & Accessory fuses. Check the 30 Amp Main Fuse under the seat. The Check Engine Light is powered by the Accessory fuse but it gets its power from the ECM. No power to the ECM could be from a bad ground in part of the Starter Interlock (sidestand switch, clutch switch, neutral switch) or a dirty STOP/RUN switch or a defective Ignition relay or defective Key Switch relay. Test for +12 VDC on lug 87 of the Ignition Relay with Key ON, Engine STOP/RUN switch to RUN and bike in neutral. |

I was thinking that too, but the ECM would cause the no fuel pump part, not the no headlights. |
