Time for a little winter road trip of 500 miles there and 500 miles back. All the important gear is stowed! Taking off in a couple of hours when Meribeth gets off work.

Well Snow or should that be crap! The view outside the hotel window this morning. I guess I won't be taking the new scooter for a test ride.

Here's the new scooter, a gorgeous '96 S2 getting ready to brave old man winter and a long road trip to her new home.
Ramps are all setup and ready for loading
It's 18 degrees and blowing snow.
At this point I'm just praying that I don't lose my footing, slip on some snow and dump the bike. I'm feeling real serious right now!
Up we go!!!
Strapping her down good and tight.
A very happy new S2 owner.
My girl Meribeth, that is so supportive of my love for motorbikes.
The new "Baby" chillin' in the back.
"Beefy Score" That's what I was thinking with the new S2.
She is still back there, and man this was some ugly weather!
Back home safe and sound.
Thanks to David for letting go of such a Gorgeous Buell. Meribeth named it "Baby" because she thinks I will baby it way more than the other two Buells. |

You have more balls than I do riding up that ramp in those conditions. Gorgeous is an understatement ............... The bike ain't to shabby either. |

Beautiful bike, that's the best kind of a trip IMO - memorable and worth-while, and you get to share it with someone special. Tell us about the engine when you get a minute. |

"Gorgeous is an understatement ............... " Amen!!! I was way more concerned with the landing in the truck with the plastic bed liner, than going up the ramp. It all went very smooth considering the weather. The bike is completely stock except for the V&H exhaust, foot pegs, and turn signals with 5300 miles on the odometer. It also came with the hard bags and the other touring extras. |

Loren, welcome to the madness. The first step is admitting you have a problem! Great looking bike! Come on out to Colorado in June (S2 Gathering Roundup in the Rockies) and celebrate the finest American motorcycle ever made. Frank |

Frank, Problem...what problem? LOL We have been planning on coming to the Colorado gathering for a while, although we will most likely be on the S3T. |

Man . . .. reading something like this just makes my day! Wait till you start riding the thing . . . . it's absolutely addicting and that's a pristine looking example! Look forward to seeing you in Colorado. Court |

She's still sitting in the back of the truck today. I went to the car wash and washed all the salt off the truck and gave the bike a gentle washing too. The bike only caught a little of the road spray. I'll take into the state patrol office tomorrow for VIN inspection and then get it tagged. I should be taking it for a spin tomorrow evening. |

Gowindward, I like that ramp you have. Can you give some details about it? The one I use I cannot stop while on the ramp or the tires loose grip. I also like the bend in it to prevent bottoming out. |

Frank, Here is the ramp. http://www.motorcycleramps.com/black_widow.htm Shop around for price. They are the ticket for being able to walk the bike up and down the ramp without the fear of dumping the bike if you stop. The arch is great to for the clearance issues too. I have the long version due to the truck being a 4 wheel drive and having a taller tailgate height. |

>>>>She's still sitting in the back of the truck today. Look . . . I don't know Maribeth but I feel like I have to speak up. Begin eager to get your S2 unloaded and safely inside is, to all us us, perfectly understandable. But I keep looking at those photos of the weather and I have to ask that you go get her out of the truck and let her inside. She's a doll and I'll be a nice person and it's just not fair to do this to her.

Thanks Jim...It is such a cool bike. Meribeth and the bike are now both out of the truck and have their places under cover. We have had mild weather here so the S2 has been pulling commuting duty while I take the long way to and from work and joy rides at lunch time. Life is good! |
