Looking for experienced opinions on the stock rear shock on the '08 1125R when used for racing. Seems like my longest races are about 15 minutes. Does the rear shock need a remote reservoir at this length of race? If the stock shock isn't race worthy, would you go with Ohlins' rear shock? The race unit Buell is coming out with? Or what? Any advice appreciated. |

The stock shock has a remote reservoir. At the level you are at the moment, the stock unit will suffice, set it up best you can or get a suspension person to help with the baseline. The best feature of the available after market shocks is the adjustable ride height feature and better overall damping control, also the spring rate would be setup for your particular weight and riding style. I would check out the Penske shock as well. I am surprised you did not take care of the rear when you had the forks done, because doing one end emphasizes the weakness of the other. +1 on the Penske. I've been very pleased with the one I put on my Gixxer. If you aren't far from Traxxion Dynamics just north of Atlanta, then they can hook you up with a top rate suspension and set it up for you. |
