What do you think my chances of getting a warrantied replacement drive belt are? ('06) Mine just stripped off about 8" of teeth. She made it home though! Bless her heart. |

Slim to none and "Slim" just left town. You can ask; all they can say is no. |

Actually, it depends on when you bought the bike. It's got a 2 year/unlimited mileage warranty from the time of purchase. If you bought a left-over 06, you might be OK. Belt is warranted as long as the guards are still in place. +1 to what Teeps said. |

I asked, just before posting. They are checking. My fingers are crossed and I know it's a long shot. |

It is covered by the standard 2 year warranty. Some dealers will try and weasel their way out of honoring it. |

The local dealership here is pretty good. They have taken good care of me in the past but I'm clearly out of warranty and may have used up all my luck. |

Well, the belt is only ~$150 or so, and the latest version is better than what you have. I think I'd just plan on paying. |

I had a rear wheel bearing replaced out of warranty. Service writer said they were having trouble with '06 bearings and replaced it free. Good luck with your belt replacement. |

The dealership called. They want to see the belt. I'm way happy to even get this far! |

That's a good sign. the usual deal-breaker is leaving the dead one in the street. Make sure your bike stil has all of the beltguards before the dealership has a look. |

They said I could just bring in the belt. It was not broken, just some teeth stripped off. Took all of 15 or 20 minutes to remove it. They know my bike, my ability to do my own repairs and that I am a big fan of belt guards. They said that they just wanted to see if it was damaged or had just failed. It looked to me like it de-laminated. The service dept guy called to see if HD/Buell would cover a belt and after a couple of attempts got the answer... no. but they did offer 20% off a new one and it is the upgraded one. It seems the belt that my '06 came with is no longer available. The end. |

Seems like you got a good deal on the new and improved belt. I am planning on getting one and putting it on and then useing the one I have as a spare just for safety sake. |
