Let me know if you'd like to do some trail-riding sometime. I'm in Roanoke and get out your way quite regularly. The weekend of your get together I will be in Blue Grass, VA at another event. NUTS |

As this is right in my back yard it sounds like a run I'd be up for! Count me in as well. Having hosted numerous bike rides and 4wd rallies in that area I'm familiar with a lot of roads; if you want any assistance let me know; I'm in Romney. Alan |

Does everyone still want to ride/hang on the 20th? I'm still game, but need to know soon because there is another event I'm interested in attending the same day! |

So; you got a better offer??!! Just kidding! I still have that weekend open, but since I'm so close I haven't made any arrangements that can't be changed. I should be working around the house instead of out riding around on the bike for yet another weekend, but what fun would that be?! If you want to cancel or reschedule that's fine with me, I certainly understand how it goes. But if you get enough interest and are going to ride keep us posted and I'll come up! Alan |

Ken, How large of a loop (mileage) do you guys want to run from Romney? Alan |

ok guys, I'm making a command decision... the weekend of the 20th is a no go. Sorry, I gotta be out of town... well more like I need to go out of town to try and find my sanity!! A day-cation per se. Ken, from Morgantown, to go to Romney I would take 92 to 50 (sorry, I really enjoy that twisty section of 50), then 28 north out of romney to rt 9 to 220S. then take 135 to Oakland, MD area... take MD 39, becomes WV 7 and you should know the rest from there! Hey thanks Janette for the tips. BTW, I like your taste..7-92-50-24-Davis (for coffee) and back to Oakland is my therapy loop We're kicking around the idea of heading clear out to Skyline Dr ...making an overnight loop of sorts! too big Al? |

No, that would be about right for a 2 day run. I guess I'm in the minority, but I'm not a big fan of Skyline Drive for a bike trip. Maybe I'm too close to it, but the speed limits are pretty low and it's pretty crowded, at least for me anyway. Having said that if you've never done it you will find spectacular scenery; but watch for wild life. I should have checked your profile, for some reason I thought you were coming from MD, doh! The route Janette suggested is OK, but if I were doing a day loop I probably wouldn't come completely to Romney. Again maybe I'm too close to some of these roads, but 28, 220 and 135 don't interest me much. I would be more likely to run 50 east as far as Burlington. Yeah; I like most of 50 as well :-), and then turn south in Burlington on "Patterson Creek Road", sorry, don't have the actual route number, if you need it let me know and I'll get it for you. That will run you to 42, take 42 into Petersburg, then pick up 33 west. I'd take that to 250 north then. But really it is hard to find a bad route in this area! Let us know if you want to reschedule the weekend. Alan |
