If you're considering them for using while you ride, you may want to look at them in person. The wire looks pretty fragile, and putting on and taking off a helmet a few times might break it.  | ||

I have a set of these: http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/chmisearph.ht ml Custom made, but they send you a kit to make your own mold. Saves you a trip (and expense) of going to an audiologist. Cheaper than the Big Ears too. Sound quality is excellent, but may not be as good as the B.E's. though. The wire eventually broke on my Challengers where it exits the ear-plug. Looks like they did a re-design since to address the issue. The Big Ears look like they are reinforced in that spot. You just can’t beat custom molded earphones for long wear comfort. | ||

These are the under helmet motorcycle version. I went ahead and bit the bullet on them, so I guess I find out soon. | ||

get a set of skull candy's from best buy. think they are around $30. i bought a pair to try, then the gf bought a pair, and now most of my friends use them too. they sound good. are small enough to get a good fit in the ear and come with 3 sizes of ends to fit your ear. they are the only set of ear buds ive ever had where i was actually able to turn down the ipod and still hear the music good while riding. http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/smokin-buds-p-10.ht ml | ||

I have some similar to those. My problem is that they don't stay in properly under my helmet if I move my head wrong and although mine are considered sound canceling, I still get enough wind noise with my modular helmet to hurt my ears over time. | ||

If I didn't have to pay $25k in taxes this year just so the people that make less money can get $5-6k back in taxes that they didn't even pay in, I could have choked down the $300 a little easier. I had to visit the booth at the show 3-4 times before I could bring myself to do it. I hear its worth it though. | ||

I have two sets. One set for the bike and sled which have been flawless and another set for noise blockers for bagpiping. The custom fit is great and comfortable. No issues with wires after 18 months of just about year round use. | ||

+1 on the Skullcandy. They aren't perfect, but my last pair sounds fine under my Scorpion EXO400 and they were $19.00 on sale at Dick's Sporting Goods. I put on a thin Pearl Azumi skullcap over them so they don't move around, and it also helps to keep the funk out of the helmet. | ||

I've been using a set of Philips purchased at Wal-Mart for $29 (now they are $20). The noise cancelling works pretty good, such that I can run my MP3 player at a comfortable listening level and still hear it while riding on the highway. The main problem I found with them was that the donuts pull of easy and couldn't find replacements. Until we got a custom earplug kit at work and I had the customs moulded around the Philips buds. Now I don't have any problem with them pulling out with the helmet. I considered them a throwaway but they have lasted 2 years now. I also tried an $89 pair of Kenwooods but the Philips work just as well. Unfortunately I spent too many years riding without earplugs to avoid the dreaded ringing in my ears. | ||

I got some from bestbuy and they have ear buds that are like earplugs you squeeze them down and insert in the ear and they come with an x-tra set of the ear bud ends, The nice thing is the don't pull out of the ear when putting on the helmet! jvc fx33 is the one's i got. | ||

Mike, I hear you on the ringing deal. Too may race bikes, race cars, open headers, rock and roll roadie work, etc over the years. It's taken it's toll. I think the worst offender has been driving with an open window in the car! Lots of low freq hi level sound from that. My left ear is much worst than the right... My 6k region sucks... I use Skullcandy phones myself. I have different ends I can use. Some like the stock units, others like "christmas trees". The trees are MUCH more sound isolating but are not as comfortable for long distances. They also stay in place with no problems. I may have a custom set made up. I already have the ear molds done. It will only cost around $40 to have them made with adapters for the Skulls. One thing about the Skulls, they are VERY efficient. They don't require much volume to get quite loud. REALLY decent sound for the $$$. With the "tree" plugs on the bass is very good and clean. Not quite as good as the higher end units but very acceptable (remember that I've done a ton of sound work, I'm pretty pickey about the way things sound..). Brad | ||

I got a cheap set of "barricade" phones at the local lowes, they have the E.A.R. type christmas tree layout, they seal well and stay put, at times they get pinched off and the sound suffers, at 25$ the sound is good. What type of player do you use most and what do you like about it? I had a zen stone + was it was simple - was it was flimsy it lasted about 6 mos. i have a small sansa, + a display, better battery life, iluminated, playlists - cumbersom, file / album system not as good | ||

I got the head phones about 18 months ago at a show for right around $250.00 and the noise reducers for $150.00 because they keep the ear mold on hand for just about ever they say. Plus the cost is worth it if I do not go deaf in the years to come from the bag piping! In my opinion I think it is worth it! But you know what they say about opinions... | ||

Regular earbuds that come with the iPod don't fit me so I got the bigears while visiting the IMS in San Mateo. They fit well under the helmet and do a good job of blocking noise but I'm not all that impressed with the sound out of them. Their regular ear plugs are really good pieces. | ||

I'm gonna go with stick in speakers. Don't like things going in my ears after my aunt popped her eardrum accidently with Q-tip. Freaked me out ever since. | ||

I got a pair at the NYC IMS for $140.00 they stick in your ear and I like them. The name on the box is "the S plug". |
