Please let me repeat what I have said. I'm not blaming guns, I have many. I would not take the gun rights away. I think laws that ban guns only affect those who obey laws. |

again I think some of you are focusing on the wrong part of the story, Its the kid that is guilty. The question that needs to be asked is why did the boy shoot his dads girlfriend, I know it was because he was jealous or something along those lines but that is normal for children to feel that way when a parent has someone else in their life, this situation happens everyday, but why did the boy think it was ok to kill. Was it something that happened to him or is he just not mentally stable. Either way it is tragic. What you got to remember is if this kid is that unstable now how bad would he be in four or five years from now with out professional help. At that age he would be able to acquire a gun with no problem and there is no telling what he would do. How would he deal with his first broken heart at school. |

Lets out law 11 year olds. I have had enough of this kind of tragedy. Every 11 year old must be considered armed and dangerous. Lets solve the problem at the root of it. Eventually if every 11 year old is criminalized, there will be no 12 year olds to grow into hardened criminals. Nowhere in the constitution does it grant you the right to be 12 You have your extreme solution to the issue, I have mine. |

You have your extreme solution to the issue, I have mine. What EXTREME solution are you referring to, --- Stop arming children with deadly firearms. I don't think this EXTREME! |

I like the idea of removing their hands. All 11 year olds will get bionic hands, only able to be checked out from the local authorities. Parents have just proven too unreliable on these matters.

He would have killed here with whatever he could have. a knife, a spoon, a ball bat blah blah blah..... Any monkey can pull a trigger. Meaning you dont really need to many brains to operate one. It really isn't hard to operate any of the items I listed to kill someone or something. The access to the gun is what the problem is. RESPONSIBILITY of the parents to have the gun locked up. The human animal kills. If there were no guns, we still would kill . The instrument would be a different choice for the act. The problem is responsibility and the ease of access to arms. The kid wasn't right in the head. Im sure the gun jumped up and said point and shoot me at that bitch I hate her!!! just as easy as a knife would have... hmmmm The answer isn't stricter gun laws, control or deny access to the public to own them. The answer is in TRAINING and EDUCATION. Someday we will need them for something we believe in. It has happened before. Why would you want to stop your right to protect yourself? How about the ones you love and possibly your freedom some day? TRAINING and EDUCATION...... |

Then the axe should be banned! Cars as well how many people are killed a year by a car? The number is staggering. Point is,and in my line of work. Anything is a weapon. A rolled up newspaper could be used as a murder weapon if you tried hard enough. I think with all the different forms of media our youth are subjected to some have been desensitized to many forms of violence and the consequences of their actions. my .02 |

Cowards use guns to kill innocent unarmed peaple. That kid would never have killed without that gun. That gun gave him the power, opertunity and the sack to do it. He would never have had the sack to do it any other way, knife, axe, rope, ect, ect. To do so, would meen he would have had to go face to face with the person he was attempting to kill. I doubt he was big, strong enouhg to kill a grown woman any other way and he knew it. Thats why he used a gun to kill her in her sleep, coward. No, I am not anti gun, but lets be honest. Now a daze minors should not have unlimeted access to sticks of dinamite. Things were much different long long ago. They could hurt themselves or worst some poor sleeping prego girl. Now under proper adult supervision sure go ahead blow yourselves up I realy don't care, jest please stop blowing up innocent victoms. The gun did not do, it is the bullets fault she is dead. |

Sorry, Old_man, I don't mean to pile on. I do love the guys that still believe the gun is the culprit. "couldn't have done it without..." etc.... LOL I guess the first 14,000 years of human murder & war don't count. Nope, if it hadn't been for the gun, Cain wouldn't have...what? a rock? choked? No way, he wouldn't have the stones...... Reminds me of a police statistic report. The last words of a lot of shooting/stabbing cases. "you wouldn't dare" or "you don't have the balls". bang. wrong again BB brain. |

Maybe there is something to this dis-arming. What do you call a man with no arms and no legs under your car? Jack What do you call a guy with no arms and no legs hanging on your wall? Art What do you call a guy with no arms and no legs in front of your door? Matt What do you call a guy with no arms and no legs in your mail box? Bill What do you call a guy with no arms and no legs water-skiing? Skip What do you call a girl with no arms and no legs rolling around on the beach? Sandy It's a joke, nothing typed here is bring that poor woman back. |

Could the same boy have pushed his step-mother down a flight of stairs? Could he have hit her in the head with a baseball bat? It is the father's responsibility. It is the child's responsibility. From the age of 5, I knew that there were shot guns under my parent's bed. I could lay hands on them any time I chose. My parents could have locked them up. I could have gotten my hands on them one way or another. How many folks have a gun safe with ALL their weapons locked away ALL the time? It's obvious that this kid was significantly disturbed. ANYTHING in the hands of a disturbed person could be used as a weapon. Give a psycho a spoon, and they'll jab it into your eye socket. It ain't the spoon's fault. Disturbed knows no age. |

Ft_Bstrd, I've been waiting for someone to finally say baseball bat. First hit is for free second hit makes the splatter. Got to get the blanket over them before the second hit. My 11 year old knows that. He also owns a 22 magnum and a 30-30. He shot both of them last week. What part of the second amendment doesn't let him? I decide if he has ammo or not. I'm crazier than him and have access to all the toys. The kid in the news is a nut-job. When they out law bowling balls, only outlaws will have bowling balls. I was saving up to buy an auto gyro before getting married. I was going to mount a rack under it for carrying bowling balls and dropping them. Got married and she spent the money. |

You can't punish the rest of society simply because one psycho couldn't handle the responsibiity. That's why blaming the gun in any way is futile. |

Maybe the deceased's family can take the shotgun into civil court and sue it for "wrongful death". We know WHO(the suspect 11yo). We know HOW it was done(also WHAT implement was used). Yet the WHY is unknown to us(may never be either). Sounds like a bad game of Clue. and by the way, shooting someone "at point blank range" makes it very personal. Let alone that she was in her bed(sleeping?). This was not an impulsive act and it was personal. |

and to flip this over...... Does the victim(unborn child not included) share any responsibility in this? I mean, they say it was her home. Should she not have made sure the shotgun was secure. How about the ammunition for said shotgun. This assumes that the shotgun and required ammunition was kept in this residence. There are so many ways to twist this and twisted it will get. Before anyone jumps on me for this. Let it be known I am being the devils advocate here. I like looking at the coin from all three sides. One reason I was so good on the debate team. Also just one more way I piss so many people off. |

and the Why? Who the f#$% cares. Its as good as 'sorry' It changes nothing. Maybe he wet his bed when he was 9. Go make him a victim somehow. the lil Shiate There was a time when he would be stoned to death, now he will get to be the star of his own 'Hallmark Holiday' show. |

I could care less about the WHY also. It is gonna be asked tough. It will be analyzed and used in his defense. If it goes to a jury trial, he should be thankful I can not be on said jury. How it was done. Where it was done. This negates any reasoning as to WHY. This individual knew what he was doing and understood most of the ramifications of doing it. Or believes the ramifications will be muted due to his being a minor. |
