A friend of mine is replacing his isolators. He's not sure which goes on which side. They're marked "L" and "R", but one of the local dealerships states that they're installed from the point of view of someone looking at the bike from standing in front of it (the auto industry standard as applied to the engine bay of a car), I would think it should be from the point of view while sitting on the bike. Which is correct? Does the "R" marked isolator go on the right side as you're sitting on the bike, or on the right side while standing in front of the bike looking at the bike? Thanks in advance . |

the auto industry standard as applied to the engine bay of a car I'm a fully certified ASE mechanic with a few years under my belt and i can honestly say, thats BS. for cars and bikes, it refers to how you sit on the bike/in the car. |

"thats BS" Good to know . His mention of it is the only time I'd heard it but thought I'd mention it. Thanks for the answers . |

At least you ask... i know so many r'tards that just hear it once and roll with it without getting second opinions or even asking why. |

M1, I hope you keep this event in mind the next time you have to deal with that service provider. It is and always has been the operators point of reference. And if they don't have that right they ARE suspect. |

When I get asked about a L-R oriented part, I ask "driver's side or passenger side". Half the time I get a blank stare, the rest "get it". Be careful if you ask a British or Japanese rider... Z |
