I just got a great deal on an new 07 Uly. I love the bike but it may have too high of a seat height for me. (old and bad back) Does the forks and shock from the 12TT fit? Will this lower the bike?? Can I use the shock and forks from the Lightning? Because of the deal, I could change the forks and still have a great price. |

Did you have a chance to try the height of an XT? You're best bet would be to buy the XT forks and shock since they are specifically designed for the Uly. Plus, you get the remote preload adjuster. |

Plus you would then be able to use the suspension setup table from the XT rider's manual. |

Hi Gotj, you pretty much answered one part of my question about lowering my '06 Uly. The other part was wouldn't the fork legs and shock from a Lightning Long be a straight swap too? I remember a former Uly owner, (his name escapes me for now), from this site who had a specialist suspension firm shorten his forks and use Suzuki cartridge internals and (I think) a Penske shock for the same purpose. I remember he was very happy and said his bike was better than his Aprilia Tuono on the Snake. |

Longdog, Of course, there are a myriad of ways to lower the Uly. My first method was to use an XB9 shock and lower the triple clamps to level the bike. I later had my stock shock shortened and revalved/resprung for my weight but I have stuck with the lowered triple clamps. I also have gone to the 07 fork springs. Your being across the pond makes the use of the XT pieces much more costly so other options may make more sense. But if I were Teach (check his profile), I would pop for them in a heartbeat. I have an 06 XT and he would have an 07 XT. Good luck with your lowering project. Keep us posted about what you choose to do. |

Just an update really, I haven't done anything about lowering my Uly yet, but it's still on the agenda. I guess the reason is I don't need to lower it, I just want to lower it to make it a little more pavement friendly in much the same way as Warbaby did. Anyway, here is what I've found. I can get White Power to supply and fit new fork springs, progressive or linear, with a new shock and set up the suspension for my needs. This will lower the bike about 10mm and will cost about $1200.00 Hyperpro, (http://www.hyperpro.com/home/index.asp), now supply progressively wound springs for both forks and rear shock as a kit that includes oil and instructions for about $240.00 This will lower my bike 25mm and as the Showa equipment is quite decent, is probably the route I'll take. |

How did you get that price? I sent an email request, and got this in response: Hi Don, Thank you for your interest in the Hyperpro products. Your email to Annitori Distributing was forwarded to us at EPM Performance Imports as the exclusive importer and distributor for Hyperpro shocks and springs. Yes, we do have spring lowering kit ( fork springs and replacement spring for the OEM shock) that will lower the bike 25 mm or 1" The price for the kit is $ 319.00. I do not have it in stock, but if you place your order with on Friday this week, it will be at our place by Wednesday next week to be shipped to you. Hi Dottrz, That was the UK price that I was quoted and converted to $USD so it was approximate for you. I should have pointed that out. Obviously I can't account for shipping costs, import taxes, etc, when these are imported into USA. |
