Like I said, protecting children is an excuse that the politicians can sell in sound bites,
it was not the objective of this legislation.

When a politician says "it's for the children", the hair on the back of your neck should stand up just like when a politician says "trust me".

There's about to be a screwin'!

You know froggy I doubt plastic alone would work due to the temp and pressure in the
combustion chamber, but a composite ceramic/plastic block, heads, manifolds etc with
metal crank, rods, valves & seats etc should be do-able, but it may be tough with
all of the different thermal expansion rates keeping things from distorting and losing
seals as it comes up to temp.

It would be a fun exercise though.

Yea brian those were my same thoughts and concerns. Never got past a doodle on a napkin, but I thought it would be awesome and shave a good 300lbs off a modern car.

Light as a feather pistons and rods that could spin to 50k rpm : D

pre-1920 Bakelite letter opener

Bakelite (pronounced /ˈbеɪkɨlaɪt/) is a material based on the thermosetting phenol formaldehyde resin polyoxybenzylmethylenglycolanhydride, developed in 1907–1909 by Belgian Dr. Leo Baekeland. Formed by the reaction under heat and pressure of phenol (a toxic, colourless crystalline solid) and formaldehyde (a simple organic compound), generally with a wood flour filler, it was the first plastic made from synthetic components. It was used for its electrically nonconductive and heat-resistant properties in radio and telephone casings and electrical insulators, and was also used in such diverse products as kitchenware, jewellery, pipe stems, and children's toys. In 1993 Bakelite was designated an ACS National Historical Chemical Landmark in recognition of its significance as the world's first synthetic plastic.[1]

The retro appeal of old Bakelite products and labor intensive manufacturing has made them quite collectible in recent years.

Bakelite AG (a German company) claims to own the trademark in the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, China, Cuba, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Republic of Macedonia, Malaysia, Morocco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Switzerland, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, and the United Kingdom.[2]

While you're researching - check out this product - 'Barotex'

A friend of mine is involved with the Co. and was telling me it has applications that are almost unlimited. Re-bar, car wheels, car parts -from blocks to hoods, anything currently CF or fiberglass, armor plating (HUGE weight reduction) Flak jackets - 40# as opposed to current 90# units. He said it looks really cool, too!

They are working on a new website.

I'd be in favor of wiping the books clean of all of the laws and writing a new code of
law....IN PLAIN ENGLISH (no need for a billion different interpretations) but the
lawyers, and therefore politicians (most are bar members) would never go for it.

If we are raising people in a climate where they are taken of and looked after then it makes perfect sense to write laws like this.

Not only that but this last election shows what a slight majority of people who vote want. It is what it is. If most of them are too stupid to realize what they are getting than oh well.
