I got out for the first spin of the new year. I know this is no big deal for many here that don't have to take a two or three month break due to snow & ice, but in upstate NY you garner lots of attention riding a Uly in early February. My sloped driveway has been a solid 4-6" sheet of ice since early December so even though the low roads occasionally opened up I'd never get the bike home again after an outing. It felt great to unplug the beast from the battery tender and hit that yellow switch. It did stumble on the first attempt, but ran fine on the second. Wasn't an extensive run, enough to warm the juices.............mine and the Uly's. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9036 317&postcount=479 Did run into a problem though, made for an interesting night ride home. I will never buy Silverstars again. I have read that they don't always last long, but this is ridiculous. Can't have 4K on 'em and the low beam is already gone. I replaced the OEM bulbs after my deer-farkling last spring with the Philips. What conventional bulbs seems to work best out there? |

Shoot Sylvania an email, I have heard that they are good about replacing defective bulbs within the first year. |

I had my first ride in a while last Sunday after the thaw too. The Uly turned over slow for a second but then it hit and fell into a nice idle. I've also had the same problem with SilverStars in my truck. They last about a year. I don't think they like vibration (Cummins diesel.) |

"Shoot Sylvania an email, I have heard that they are good about replacing defective bulbs within the first year." Oops, my bad. Sylvania, not Philips. Don't think it's worth my/their effort for a $20 light bulb. I did enjoy the light pattern but think I'll look elsewhere for replacement. Light(s) out in my truck is one thing, but on my scooter in serious bambi country is quite another. |

Its the vibrations that kill the bulbs. My stock bulbs on my Uly lasted 15k, replaced them with Silverstars and they worked great till my wreck. My lightning long had PIAA Extreme bulbs in it when I bought it, and I got about 15k out of those before it blew. I got Silverstars in my car, they have well over 50k miles and over two years and work great. Just got my HID kit to replace them |
