All times listed at the bottom of this article were self reported and there are no Buells on the list. You think the Buell teams are doing well or not? Can't tell from this report. |

Did any participate? I just assumed they didn't spend the time and money. I think people are getting a little too excited by unsubstantiated (and likely untrue) rumors of how much racing Buell is going to be doing. It seems like we can count on seeing more participation in Moto-ST (now Moto-GT) and we know Michael Barnes with RMR will be making a serious run at Daytona Sportbike. That will be cool to see, and I can't wait to see MB back on a Buell. . . . but I think anyone who hopes or expects to see a lot more than that may be setting themself up for disappointment. I think some people think that Buell has a super-secret race program that they're about to unveil, but I think that's unlikely. Any advantage they'd get by keeping things under wraps would likely be countered by a lack of funding from not getting the word out to sponsors that they'll be racing. |

Did you notice the pics of Higbee from the same test? The times were self reported and he chose not to. There are actually a few other teams going to be in Daytona Super bike, like Allan Schmidt and Josh Bryan from Latus, and I'm sure there's others. I was asking cause it would be good to know how Higbee did compared to the other DSB guys. But this is just idle fan BS. I guess we'll just have to wait for Daytona week. |

Interesting. I did see the pics, but I thought they were from a track day. Even if he wasn't on the track with the others it would be interesting to compare times (for what I assume is the same track lay-out). . . . maybe how well he did will help determine if he runs or not. When you say Latus will be in Daytona Super bike, I assume you mean the "Sportbike" (the class with the 600 cc's as oposed to literbikes). I was interested when I saw the article that seemed to say they would be racing AMA, but I thought it might be Moto-GT. If they are going to race the Sportbike class, that will be interesting. They're both talented riders (though the competition in that class is also pretty tough - after a lot of talk of no real riders or teams, its seems like most of the big names are signed on). . . . oh, now here I go, starting to get all excited just to get let down again. I think I'll still try to hold back until we hear more official info. |

Checkout the current entry list for Daytona. Thanks for correcting my Sportbike/Superbike issue. |

Although you need to notice that Higbee is entered in both. So I wasn't too far off, sort of. |

Very interesting list. Thanks! Interesting that Higbee isn't listed in Moto-GT. I had assumed that would be his primary effort, but I guess RMR is moving over to the sprint races. I can't see someone of Shawn's talent just sitting out the season, but he's going to be up against some very tough competition with a bike that will likely be underpowered and under-refined in Superbike. The bike is probably more competitive in Sport-bike, and he could probably do something there if he has enough money to support a real effort (and that could be the big problem). It does keep things interesting though. Even if Shawn can't currently be competitive in Superbike, it would be good to see him out there trying and gathering data for what they'd need to make a real go in 2010. Or running with Michael Barnes in Sport-Bike. I've always loved Shawn, so I hope he can do at least something this year. |

. . . and we should probably also note that there is no mention of either Jeremy McWilliams or Miguel Duhamel. Maybe that will put those rumors to rest. |
