Bike seems to either idle around 1100 like it should or around 1700, depending on the ride. Could 30 degree temp swings between rides this time of year be the cause or is this classic TPS reset time. I ask out of curiosity because TPS problems seem to always be reported as low idle problems, not high.... | ||

idle and tps are related but not necessarily the same right? my 12s likes 1050-1100 for idle. (Message edited by buell_41 on February 15, 2009) | ||

I had the same problem on mine. I cured it on mine by slightly lowering the idle adjustment to hover on the tach. slightly over the 1000rpm mark when warm. | ||

Same for me Old_man. I took the idle down to 950 and that stopped the motor from running on when I backed off the throttle. | ||

Thanks guys, I'll try that and just remember how many turns I adjusted it. I don't want to do the TPS reset until a good 50 degree day. Or warmer. I should just do it more often since I have the software anyways...... | ||

tps is not affected by temp. it's just a position sensor. resetting just "shows" the computer where 0 or a fully closed throttle is. now, when setting the idle, yes the bike needs to be at operating temp | ||

Yeah, that has more to do with the weather, the salt and the cold ! I don't ride to work until it's at least 38 cause in MD we get that stupid ice all the time. |
