Thought I would check in and say hi. Having read about the noisy fan, the lumpy idle, the tall seat ...and the fun, all the miles of fun you folks were having well I just had to get in on the action. My '09 12x was delivered on Friday...and between the winter weather in these parts I have managed just 70 miles on it. Yeah, it has a lumpy idle, just like you said it would, oh and the noisy fan too...but it is a heck of a ride and I haven't been over 3,000rpm....yet ...honest.

Hope to learn more and contribute as the miles roll on the Uly.

Give me a call, I will be going out for a quick spin when I get home from work. I stopped at Danbury to get my free tire gauge, and I got yelled at for not riding for once. : )

The problem with the noisy fan has all but disappeared on my bike.
The fan rarely comes on at all now.
The combination of miles and synthetic oil seems to have eliminated that gripe for me.
Lately, I wondered if it was not working.
It works, but the bike doesn't get too hot as easily as it did.

The fan will run less once the engine is broken in, also the fact that it hasn't broken 35F degrees in a few weeks contributes to my lack of fan.

That loud fan is insuring that your engine will have a long and happy life.
LOUD FANS SAVE LIVES!

Even in the heat of this summer the fan rarely came on.
I haven't done any riding this winter because of the snow.

Vary the speed constantly the first 500 miles. Don't just cruise steady. Worse than going over 3000 revs.

Guys - one of the reasons I opted for the Uly, it has character! My other ride is an ST1300 - smooth, comfortable long distance transport...but it lacks a little soul and is, well, a little tubby . The Uly is a different animal - can't wait to get on it again (but Froggy, I think I will wait for today's snow to disappear!) BTW I am still looking for the windows (is that an aftermarket accessory Greenlantern?).
