Looking at an 06. How tall do you have to be to be comfortable with this bike? I'm 5'11" and I feel really confident on the bike although when I'm at a stop I'm on the balls of my feet. Just gathering input. It's to cold and snowy to ride now but once it's gone I'm getting a Uly! |

What seat are you using? The accessory low seat and the 2007+ seats are lower. |

it's the stock seat. the 06 I'm looking at is in mint condition and has 7000 miles on it. It's the black colored one. The one I've always wanted! |

I'm 5'11.5". I HATE, HATE, HATE the 07+ seat. It's too narrow in the front and puts my balls to sleep. I have the 06 Low Seat and much prefer it. Make sure to try out an 07 seat on a new bike test ride to make sure it works for you. |

ok. I'll make sure to try em out. I like how comfortable the stock one is but being able to have a firmer foot plant would be more beneficial than a more comfortable saddle. |

You say that now, but when your balls are numb, you'll wish you had a more comfortable seat. |

I got used to riding my 04 XB12S with the low seat. That was the crappiest seat ever but I loved riding the bike so much I just delt with it I guess. The worst was when I had my girlfriend on the back. She of course loved it (fogged up her helmet pretty good) but she would always slide into me causing the ball crush. yeah, that sucks but there was an upside to it I guess. She was raring to go! haha off topic I know. |

You will be more comfortable. The 06 seat cuts off circulation, and the low seat makes my ass go numb and I can feel the mesh texture through my gear. 07 seat is perfect on two different Ulys |

After cruising the dirty board I know where I can find a lot of different seats now! So first it's the seat and then I'm gonna make it louder. hmmm.... |

Xbeau; just buy the bike and put a quick 10,000 miles on it, then you'll know what changes you want to make. As far as the seat goes, some folks love the stock '06 seat. Some (like me) prefer the '06 Low seat. Some love the '07-up seat. There are even some poor misguided fools with more money than brains who actually give their cash to Corbin for one of their useless, overpriced pieces of crap. Buy the bike, ride the piss out of it and grin a lot. |

+1 on Ft_bstrd's comments on the '07 airbox! Best thing to do then is ride it and allow it to evolve....... Enjoy!!!! |

Your feet do not touch the ground when you ride. I am only 5'7" and I cannot touch the ground with my dirt bike (wr 250f). IMHO the whole seat height thing with Uly's comes from people used to riding cruisers and dragging metal on the ground all day. |

+1 on crusty's comment , I've ridden bags of cement that are better than the corbin seat. Any one of the 3 Buell seats is far superior to a corbin. The best comment I've ever heard at a rally was from a guy limping around after a 4 hour sprint on his corbin... Someone asked him what was the matter and he said his seat was too hard but corbin told him to give it about 6-7000 miles to break in. Lovin it. |

Fatty...you need to give your balls to your wife like I have. She'll keep them in her purse so you can ride in comfort. You're married, you don't need them anymore. |

I'm 5'-9" and when I wrecked my '06 Uly (standard seat) I bought another '06 (standard seat). I do, however, have a low seat to try; I'll let you know my preferences sometime in mid-March. --Doc |

I got tired of standing on the balls of my feet at stops. (5'7" 08XT) Now I leave my right foot on the brake and stand flat footed on my left foot. I have a low seat but it is not comfortable to sit back in the seat so i just ride up on the tank. |

I have an 09 12X. I am 5'6" with a 28/9 inseam. I have the 06 (tall seat) on now and the stocker in the garage. I'm testing to see wich one is the most comfortable. The whole height thing doesn't even cross my mind untill I read about it here. I think more people need to TRY to ignore the whole flat foot thing and realize that your unconsious will handle everything. Hey Dr. Greg...if you don't like the low seat let me know as I would like to test all three styles. |

I am done with the not reaching thing. I dropped my Uly over a dozen times due to not being able to even get one foot on the ground. All it takes is a slightly slick pavement before a red light and humpty dumpty falls over when my foot slides out. I haven't even come close to being in the same situation with the SS suspension equipped Uly. |

I'm 5'9" with a 32 inch inseam and I just got a used 06 Uly. I guess it has a stock seat as the indy dealer I got it from didn't know for sure. I'm also on the balls of my feet but most of the time I just put one foot down and leave the other on the peg. Like others have said, it is no different than a dirt bike. I'll try to find a 07 seat some where and try it out if it doesn't cost too much. |

I'm 6'4", 34" inseam. 06 Uly with stock tall seat, no issues. Riding Uly's with the low seats, they keep pushing me into the airbox - they seem slanted down at the front. Not a big fan of that particular sensation, and since I have long legs...I luck out and can ride the taller seat, and I love it! And for the record - I have a Corbin (2 actually - 2up and solo) on my S2, and it's awesome. Haven't had a chance (or the need) to try one for a Uly, but at least back in the tuber days they were quite comfortable. Stock S2 seat, in my mind, sucks. It's on a shelf. Not all Corbins are junk... |

I have the '06 stock seat and the '06 low. I am right at 6' with a 31 3/4" inseam. I ride short trips and speed racer stuff with the low seat and touring stuff with the '06 stock seat. They are so easy to switch out it doesn't even count. I have a pair of HD boots that I use for long rides that have a 3/4" thick sole, that makes a world of difference for the whole stop light thing. But I usually put just one foot down anyways. |

I'm not so sure that comparing the seat heights between the Uly and dirt bikes is prudent. First of all, there's a 200 pound plus weight difference between the Uly and most 250 dirt bikes. While dirt biking has its own inherent dangers, trying to balance the bike of the Uly's magnitude on pavement in traffic is a bit more of a gamble. The seat height also presents some interesting dilemmas when parking/dismounting, too. On my 06 I switched to the lower seat and am in the process of lowering the suspension, too. I guess the bottom line is, you need to establish your own comfort level, and what feels best for you. I know I'm a little uneasy a the lofty height of my Uly at present, but things can be done to improve on that, just follow some of the advice here on the forum. Few if any will steer you wrong! |

To interject more opinion, I didn't like my 07 stocker seat. At 5'11.5 it seated me to far forward and was a bum nummer without my alaska sheepskin. Picked up a used Corbin from a member here and really like it. It sits you back farther where your weight is on the main part of the seat like it should be, nice leather, firm but shaped for even seat pressure and no numb points at least for me on long rides. That being said for me seats are like windshields, what works is trial and error and the best still might be crap only because I don't know/ haven't tried better. |
