I had a 96 S2, Am trying to convince myself to jump on this M2L but need some help. All info on 02 M2L would be appreciated. Buddy has a 'Bread box" form a 98 S3-T. Would it fit on a 02 M2L? Will I lose anything by getting rid of the pictured "Ham can"? (I like the look of the Bread box.) |

Local is nice this time of year, I saw a couple of nice s2/3 bikes on the bay one in Texas for about 3500, it has a little rash on the faring / saddle bag had the T lowers, If i had 3.5 K to turn loose of I would have to think about it, ( it was in Texas so inspection shipping would figure in ) |

Doughnut, 3500 would be a pretty fair price if it looks clean and well taken care of. See if you can test ride it. Not sure if a 98 S3 breadbox will fit, I could only guess yes. But why would you want to? Ham can looks good, just have to see how they have the crankcase breathing set up. See if they would take 3000 for your first offer! Good luck. |

did see a x1 with less then 1000 on it at ebay, 3500 ask with no bids. With work (3rd shift, overtime on off days) and season, local is so nice. any thoughts on a 2000 x1? (limited edition). would like ability to go 2-up, but really mostly just me. |

Looks like a really nice bike. Great color! I think $3500 would be a fair price to you and the dealer. I think your friends bread box would fit. If he had a T model there would be a couple of Well Nuts on the lower side for mounting of the lower fairings, but a couple bolts would plug them just fine. I'm a bread box fan too. |

X1 only holds 4 gallons of fuel? Big neg. points. |

Doughnut, if you're planning on any long distance 2-up on an X1, just make sure that your passenger is really into riding. On an X1 it will take some willpower to enjoy the trip from back there. I only carry passengers locally, and they still occasionally complain that the rear seat makes them feel like they should be sitting straight up, yet the bars are aggressive enough that I'm leaning forward and leaving them with very little support and an insecure feeling. I use stock bars and a select seat btw. |

The X1 can be ridden 2 up but not recomended for much more than an hour, ( i had my daughter on the back several times ) It can be distance ridden 500 miles is a long day, My only concern about low milage is long periods of sitting idle, and possible issues from that it (the X1) had 600 and change ( just broken in ) and the gas has been sitting in the pump and injectors? pay your money take your chances... Limited ED X1 did it have PM wheels? |

}Limited ED X1 did it have PM wheels? Yes, on ebay now. good looking machine, but I really like hitting the road, need 5 gallon or better. Like the X1, but think i would be better off with the M2 |

"X1 only holds 4 gallons of fuel? Big neg. points." It's only a negative if you like riding more than 3 hours without rest stops.. I've put 15k miles on mine, and not once thought "damn this thing is empty again, I wish I could stay on the road longer." I'm not saying it isn't comfortable for a single rider over long distance, but a little over a 200 mile range doesn't bother me at all. |

Range on the X1 is about 160 ~ 180 to LFL The pegs are higher than the S3 M2 pegs for cornering clearence. Pluses Removable plate on the frame for belt changes. Tail section has no body work to crack All "stock" motor upgrades VS early M2 EFI not an issue with a laptop and ECM spy If you can find a factory select seat with red or black piping a worth while addition The X1 with a force winder and tank trim parts is a sweet looking ride =) IMHO |

I remember getting about 240 out of my 96 s2 (was close). I really do like not having to stop. One reason i like the tubers, good mileage. I think I may have to try and low ball the M2L. Has been there a while. I remember it form over a year ago. Wonder if they would go for 3300 and a new helmet, if paid cash? |

The M2L is a great bike but, for long rides and longer periods in the saddle, the S3T is my choice. I have both a 2002 M2 Low and a 2001 S3T Both are really great bikes but each has its place. The M2L is my favorite city bike - but the softer ride, fairing, and saddlebags make the S3 the best for travel. Sounds like you might prefer an S3. |

I know I would rather an S3T (better yet an S2T), but I will NOT do a payment plan on a vehicle, and could do cash for this M2L. The M2L is here now and near by. My auto is a 2000 with a few hundred shy of 180000 (no typo) and needs to be put down soon. Am close to getting debt free and don't want anymore loans of any sort. Was think of getting the M2L, then getting a better used auto come winter, or maybe my first auto loan even. The M2L is kinda a right place / right time in my eyes. |

All info on 02 M2L would be appreciated. I'm pretty sure the forks are about 1" shorter, and I think the rear shock is an oddball size to drop the rear of the bike. I own an L seat and it put my balls in a vise until I cut the foam out of the front. Now it's comfortable but looks funny. 02 has the factory recall issues sorted out. Imo it is worth paying extra if the bike has never been tipped over, or overreved. Pipes on that bike look kinda blue... was the carb rejetted to match the intake/exhaust mods? In the next 5-10k miles it would be wise to look into replacing the oil pump drive gear, front isolator, intake seals, etc. |
