looks nice but it looks like the frame sliders would interfere with the air scoop on the left side

the Sato axle sliders are garbage, I had a pair on my bike from the previous owner. They couldn't be removed when I went to change a tire, ended up cutting them off and getting Dark Horse Moto sliders. I haven't heard anything about the Sato frame slider, but if the axle sliders are any indication, these are garbage too.

doesn't the right side Sato attach at, or replace the front motor mount which tends
to break in a crash, or am I thinking about a different thing?

Either way, after seeing them perform many times at the track I'm convinced that the
Buell stick-on pucks do a really good job and are cheap to replace after impact. The
fact that they don't cause any extra damage isn't a bad thing either!

I've seen frames torn by the weld-on sliders, motor mounts broken by bolt-on sliders
and the damage wishful thinking (no sliders at all) cause. Guess what I use after
looking at the end results of the different choices?

That slider is junk. It is not mounted to anything significant thereby not going to work, or, possibly causing more damage by blasting itself into your frame. I use R&G sliders on my XB's and think they are great. I have had the opportunity to test them several times (thanks to my son)both on the street and track. Out of about 5,6,or 7 times being called on to perform. They only sort of failed once. During one extremely violent crash where the bike was forced down on it's left side with great force whilst being denied the opportunity to "slide" as is the case in most crashes. During this crash the front motor mount boss broke off the front head. The replacement head was $285.00 with valves and guides installed. A new frame is something like $1000.00. I will have these on any XB I ever own. below is a picture of my son "Big Nic" putting a set through their paces at VIR in turn one while also showing off his "Superman" face slide.
