Hey guys. Looking for some help here. I am having my valve adjustment done. The valve adjustment was not planned, so I don't have the insulation kit on hand.

Anyone have a kit available that can be shipped Monday?

PM me please if so.

I purchased and installed the kit. Spend less and get more by running to home depot or somewhere like that and by a roll of 3M reflective stuff similar to the kit. you can get way more coverage for the dollar

So the opinion is that there are better options (available locally too, more importantly for me) than the Buell kit?

Fresno, yes the kit is quite small. I was disappointed in it for the $80 cost. I would buy a roll of similar stuff and get more coverage than the Buell kit.

Thanks Edm. Now I can explore my options here on Monday and get it to the dealer Tuesday.

New question: Any recommendations on an item from a national retailer that might fit the insulation bill? The adhesive needs to be top notch. I have had heat shield tape fall off too easy.

I'm going to check out that 3M tape now.

Harlan,

Where are you going to have the work done on your bike?

Most speed shops sell peel-and-stick ceramic insulation with aluminum "foil" face. Worth checking out.

3M does have toll-free numbers for product recommendations and their online system is pretty good... worth checking out.

Bike is at the local dealer here. Specialty speed shops are on the list of phone calls tomorrow. Thanks, Steve.

I remember finding some at our local shop to insulate the bodywork where the exhaust came really close.

We have the thermotec heat barrier (good stuff) in stock: http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/16130.html

It's a fiberglass cloth with foil barrier on one side, adhesive on the other. It's relative easy to apply, goes around complex surfaces pretty well. There's more than enough to do the entire bike and have some left over in the package.

Harlan(Fresnobuell), I found adhesive backed insulation tape (1 5/8" wide x 25'long) by ThermoTec at the local Auto Zone for about $25.00 to do the inside of my lowers where they are close to the header pipes. ThermoTec's part no. 14022. Its not too thick but has insulation and is a bright reflective tape. Worked great. Gotta recommend Al at American Sport Bike. He should be close to you also.

what is the reason for the "unplanned" valve adjustment?

Bike went in to dealer for unstable front cylinder AFV. Spark plug replacement was authorized by Buell. I decided to do the valve adjustment while the engine was rotated for front spark plug change.

Ordered heat shield from Al at American Sport Bike. thanks for the input guys. I think I have an even better solution than the BMC kit now.

I guarantee that IF Al sells it, he has tested it himself or has access to people who HAVE tested it. Good choice.
