My idea of a squid is not a rider with stunting skills, but the kid in shorts and t-shirt/no-shirt riding foolishly through town on a repliracer oblivious to the stupidity of it all. Hello, my name is Blake. I was once a squid. |

Geek not trolling for flames at all - just replying to your question which you posted in response to my observation of the pics thus far posted in this thread. Your response led me to understand where your name came from - that's all. By your own admission wheelies and stoppies don't impress you and that makes me wonder why people so morally motorcycling correct like you ride a Buell but then I remembered again your name and I was enlightened. The demographics of a SQUID seem to be early to mid twenties, the average SQUIDS life expectancy, unless DE-SQUIDDING occurs.Testoserone seems to increase as SQIDDING occurs or in the company of other SQUIDDERS.The SQUID seems to be attracted to bright shiney,Japanese motorcycles, that have to be able to go at least 150 MPH.The SQUIDS seem to migrate in any direction in flocks, with others of their like kind, oblivious to other species around them. The FLOCKS of SQIDDERS seem to enjoy seeing how fast they can go,usually in a 35 MPH zone. The SQUIDS tires seem to be bare ONLY in the center of the tread, from burnouts, which tend to excite the FLOCK.Generally the FLOCKS of SQUIDDERS travel only, when its warm, and tend to stay on straight roads avoiding twisties. |

Explain to me in a logical sense why you have to wheelie or stoppie on a motorcycle in order to have fun, Rocket, and maybe I'll begin to see your point. Just because Buells are good at both doesn't make it necessary to do either in order to have fun - they are only necessary to impress those with IQs that have to be multiplied more than ten times to equal the displacement of their bike's engine. |

Explain to me in a logical sense why you shouldn't have to go down on or take from behind a woman in order to have fun, Darth, and maybe I'll begin to see YOUR point. Rocket |

Wycked, you proved my point far better than Rocket's. Doing what you like is all well and good, but fortunately or unfortunately, there are limits. Rocket, as his name implies, wants to go fast. Great. As long as he does so in a reasonably safe manner and therefore doesn't make my insurance go any higher than it already is, whatever (since he's in GB, IIRC, I don't really give a rat's ass what he does). There is NO ONE on this board that's never speeded or hot dogged a little here and there. It's the people that seem to do it for no other reason than they CAN, in a completely unsafe environment (Telegraph Road comes to mind), that I have a problem with - and would label a 'squid'. Rocket, as far as women go - whatever floats your - and her - boats. Without both men and women none of us would be here, so we need to make sure everyone's happy! (speaking of women - I go home to mine tomorrow! WOOHOO!) |

Explain to me in a logical sense why you have to wheelie or stoppie on a motorcycle in order to have fun, You don't, I never wheelie or stoppie and I always have fun riding, not saying it's not fun to do either, but since I can't it doesn't mean I don't have fun anyway !! I will admit it does impress me to see someone wheelie, as long as they aren't an idiot about it !! Is that Rocket's picture above ??? CJ

Tripper, Is that really your son? If so then congratulations to him, the Special Olympics are a great thing. Too bad that image is used in bad taste. Excuse the interruption, back to the discussion. |

I AM CONFUSED... I have been reading this thread for the past few days... and NONE of it has made any sense to me. So I decided to do a little research myself... and this is what I found! squid (skwąd) n., pl. squids or squid. Any of various marine cephalopod mollusks of the genus Loligo and related genera, having a usually elongated body, ten arms surrounding the mouth, a vestigial internal shell, and a pair of triangular or rounded fins. NOW I AM EVEN MORE CONFUSED!!! You all talk like seeing a squid is common!!! If I saw the above described creature operating a motorcycle... I might just have to give up drinking!!! What next... PINK ELEPHANTS???

I will admit it does impress me to see someone wheelie, as long as they aren't an idiot about it The wife feels the same way. We were behind a kid on a Suzuki TL1000R & he pulled this mongo 2 block wheelie..almost pulled it straight up..& the wife thought it looked really cool. |

Thanks Ritchie for reminding me why I started my "Save a SQUID Kid" program. The SQUIDS do seem to travel in a flock. If you can cut one or more of them that show a little brain power and potential from that group you can very easily turn them into actual riders. Some of the SQUIDS are really nice kids that went out and bought a motorcycle but the only other riders they had ever seen were the ones on whatever the "main drag" in your town is called. They then fall into the peer pressure of doing stunts and such in stupid places, all to impress their new "friends". Many of them make trips to the hospital. There are many other things for young guys/gals to get involved with that are not in their best interest. Some of us "older" guys and gals probably did some of them when we were that age. Doesn't make them bad people. For next years first club ride, track day or BattleTrax, go find a SQIUD(you may already know one or more) and invite them along. You might just be able to show them something that will change their life. Warning, Some Squids cannot be helped, don't give up, help the ones you can. Mother nature will weed out the others. Do not try to save the whole group. If you have the whole group along it will not work. It will just turn your event into a SQUID fest. You have to do this one or two at a time. Ride to the edge! Founder of "Save a SQUID Kid" Damn I must really be getting old. Parents used to tell their kids not to hang around with me and now the parents I meet "want" their kids to. I'm not sure when or why this happened Dave Iowa HD/Buell (Buell Cycle Center) |
