Very well spoken, FERRIS ! It echos my feelings towards my S2, which at 148,000 miles, sits in a shop, awaiting to be resurrected. I still have Honda's and Harley's in my riding stable. But the S2 just grabs me by the balls every time I ride it. Soon, I too will have an S1W to ride when I want to give the S2 a rest. Life is good when your on a BUELL!!! Most riders agree, it doesn't matter what you ride, all that matters is THAT you ride. But those of us that ride Buells know, they ARE different in EVERY sense. Thanks for putting in words, what we all feel. Have a Very HAPPY NEW YEAR ! |

So Ferris why are you trying to hawk the Thong off to all comers for a miserly 5 gee's - after all that is the one Buell to keep. S2's are for old men in grey pants. Rocket |

S2's are for old men in grey pants. English humour - a reference to the seriousness of the S2 as a motorcycle. Appealing to those who have enough maturity to wear grey pants and perhaps enough wisdom in years to sport the de rigueur grey beard weird beard too. Me, I prefer the premise of the streetfighter - the hooligan beast - the S1. A pair of Levis then! Rocket

Rocket, FWIW my S2 has done itself proud against all manner of supposedly more capable streetfighters, finishing on the box in every BattleTrax outing over the years, and displaying equally impressive results on the open road. it does, after all, possess everything important in terms of engine and chassis that an S1 or S1W does, save 15 or 25 horsepower of course, and that particular reality can be overcome, at least to a degree, with prowess and tenacity. and as an added bonus, it's a legitimate touring motorcycle. so no gray pants yet for me, please, Draggin' Jeans continue to work just fine. |

Good Morning Ferris. Finish polishing those headers yet? BTW, the Fizzer is resurrected and on the road again (cue the Willie Nelson.) Just rode it up from Fresno to Mariposa Wednesday. The revised ergos with the Ti drag bars and the new sound with the Yosh (street) exhaust give the bike a whole new and different 'tude. Still the same old engine. |

and good morning Dino. glad to hear your plop-plop-fizz-fizz-mobile is back at it, and i'm betting its (same old, yeah right) R1-based engine sounds deLish with deYosh. hard to believe with all the snow we've had (2-1/2 feet last Sunday at Alta Sierra, measured with my own hands) that you, me, 'n D sat on the veranda here at the 'Dome a mere two weeks ago and worked on our tans. does anybody make chains for a 180/55ZR17??? |

Why do I ride? I ride because I like excitement because I like the speed the windblast the mystery around the next blind curve the feeling that the machine and I are invincible together the feeling that the two of us are vulnerable I ride because I like relaxation the way a good brisk jaunt on a country road makes a rough day at work melt away I ride because want to forget forget the bad day I just had I ride to imagine imagine I’m that other thirty-something named Miguel I’m at Road Atlanta…not some Wisconsin back road I ride because of my senses leaning g-forces feeling the pavement through the bars like I was running my fingers across it the sensation of the machine lifting off the pavement as I crest that little rise the temperature change going from the shade to the sun that chills the spine the smells of freshly cut hay, manure, a stand of jack pines, fresh rain the sound of the machine and its different moods of mellow, busy, and angry the feel of heavy hot summer or crisp fall air filling the helmet I ride to be alone alone with my thoughts alone with the machine I ride to be with others being part of a subculture that waves at total strangers the camaraderie the personalities the other machines I ride because I don’t like sitting still. I ride because it makes me feel I’m alive Karl F. Reinke

Ebear - How'em I doing?...How'em I DOING??? After TWO months of post crash reconstruction I get the Fizzer back Wednesday, just in time for a Four freakin' day weekend here in sunny California - and the long sloping driveway to the house(Yosemite area) is all covered with icy white stuff. How the Hell do ya think I'm doing??? Okay, I'm calm now. Think I'll go play the 2002 WSB Imola tape, again. BTW, thanks to you, FMJ and JC for helpin' me keep FB in line. It's a thankless job (but fun.) BTW2, great pics...wish I was there, rather than in this winter wonderland! Oh well, it's not like there's any good roads around here anyway. Oh, and don't feel bad...I hardly ever hear from old FB either. Seems he goes out to the garage, slathers Mothers onto one hand, starts workin' the first piece o' tubing that comes to hand and forgets his old friends altogether. To each his own. Dino |
