The owner of my dealer told me about this at the beginning of the month. I didn't see anything about it online so I wasn't sure if it was bull to get my too buy sooner. |

Interesting, one doesn't usually raise prices if an item is not selling well. You might if you had really screwed up your costing and were losing money on each one but I doubt that is the case. So my conclusion is that it is either a very good sign of strong sales or a very bad sign of a major screwup. I sound like the weatherman |

I just came back from Toledo HD. They are offering all their Buells at invoice now. There is a white 2009 1125R with a $10.199 tag on it. A 2008 XT is to be had for the same price. Every time I am going in there, I see addtl Buells. They have 3 CRs now. I don't think they sold one yet. It's sad. I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped the brand completely. Man, I wish I could sell them myself! But unfortunately I haven't got any HOG gene in me.... Mercedes just announced price increases too despite their slow sales... Maybe there is a secret to that after all.... Anyways: Merry Christmas! PS: I hope Court is right and there will be changes to the HD/Buell sales strategy in the US... |

Mercedes just announced price increases too despite their slow sales... Good news . . . Mercedes, at least locally, is nearly giving cars away. I got 7 e-mails and 2 letters from the dealer last week. Mostly as a joke I sent them a ridiculous offer on a 2009 and I got a "we think we can do it, come see us" response in less than 3 minutes. I'm with Dave. This is either good or bad. The current market is not normal. Pilots are trained to not respond to bumps with erratic control movements in a storm. Corporations should be trained. I'm betting the news is good. But I'm a construction worker, not a weatherman. |

Rumor has it that BMW will be raising prices on their bikes in January too. I suspect the strategy here is to make the leftover '08s look like a bargain, and the manufacturers know darn well they'll have to eventually discount the more expensive '09s when the leftovers are gone... Unless the economy recovers very quickly. |

A price increase announcement may provide the impetus for buyers who are waffling to pull the trigger. |

Mfg. list price increase can offer retail opportunities. HD-Buell may be providing new motorcycle credit-purchasers a head-start; given qualifying for desirable credit terms requires higher percentage buyer "down payment" than it did a few months ago. Dealer discounts can be massaged into buyer equity, or was that a few months ago, too? : ) |

Raising prices would be a big mistake in the state the economy is. as a matter of fact buell and HD should be lowering the price and start either pay cuts or layoffs do to slowing sales. this economy won't be back to better things until the third quarter of 2009. |
