Ok today 7:00 am the ax fell. I along with 1/2 the company went bye bye. I'm, by trade a Heavey Equiptment Operator(20+ years) mostly I run exacvators. I can find no jobs any where round here. Its been slow here in NEBO land in the construction trades for some time, I've looked. Jest for giggles hows the construction feild in your side of the planet? Any jobs? Can I and my Buell sleep/live in your garage? Can I get a Gov bail out please? |

Everybody's scratching around for work. The company I work for is based in New Hampshire, and we're bidding on jobs as far away as Pittsburg. In my division, I'm the last drill operator, out of 18, thats still working. Our division in Mass. has been slow for a while. You might want to look into pipeline work if you don't mind traveling. I heard of some guys going to Florida for a 350 mile gas pipe that started this fall. |

My neighbor is a H.E.O. he's in the same boat. You can share my garage with him if it comes to that, the Buell stays in the house. I wish you all the best in your search. I just took a pay cut a few months ago. |

Danny- My Dad was an operator for almost 40 years. There seems to still be a lot of construction going on here in SC but I don't know of any specific jobs. Obama's claiming he's going to dump a bunch of money into public works (roads, bridges, etc.) so hopefully that'll mean lots of work for you guys in the near future. |

Jesternut, I'm originally from Concord, but now live in Phoenix, AZ. There is still a lot of construction going on here in the valley of the sun. Since you are a tuber owner, I'll let you take up some of my garage space. |

Check out overseas work. You would be gone for a while but if you stay for a little over 9 months it is tax free up to something like $89,000 |

If they really do build that Volkswagen plant they've been threatening to build there's going to be all kinds of plowing and such going on here. They've moved a bunch of dirt already. I suppose there will be plenty of folks standing in line to do the rest of it though. Wouldn't hurt to check though, you never know. They put off the official ground breaking from January until March, cause they couldn't get the wheels in from Germany till then. Sounds like they need time to think about it. They are still working over there when the weather lets them. I'm sure they are testing the retention ponds right now. It's wet. Can you bring your garage with you? I need one. We can park it out back and fill it up with Buells. http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/business/volksw agen/ |
