Has anybody experience any leaking from the right side of the motor. Its by the clutch cover? My bike only has 8,300 miles |

Oil or clutch fluid from beneath the puck? No oil leaks on mine, but I as well as most of us with 11s have a clutch fluid leak. Zack |

Yep, I had what is becoming a sort of typical leak at the puck also. No worries though as the dealer fixed under warranty. I don't know if I got the REV B cover or not...but it's fixed. It took them about two weeks and most of that was waiting for parts. I must say that after about the same miles that's the only warranty work I have to perform outside of the recalls.

I've got the Rev B and I'm just now noticing the leak again... looks like oil to me... at 28,000 mi. Ug. |

I have had numerous problems with the clutch leaking through the weep hole beneath the puck. after changing to the rev b cover, three seal replacements and two hydraulic part overhauls with seal replacements, it has not leaked for about two months. The only thing they did that finally fixed the leak was replace all of the hydraulic parts inside the clutch (pistons and sleeves). The sleeves and pistons had excessive wear which was causing the leaks. Mike (Message edited by kttemplar on December 29, 2008) |

How many miles had your bike done prior to having the piston and sleeve replaced? I see that the Rev B cover on Jdugger's bike is now leaking at 28000kmi. This mileage would probably take me outside the Warranty period - although the factory does seem to be very generous with 'goodwill' stuff outside that period. |

I have an 09 (Sept 08 build) CR and the clutch was leaking through the bleeder fitting. Apparently somewhat typical, judging by the tell tale "line of fluid" stain on many of the close up pictures of the right side of the bike. In this case, I teflon pasted the threads, and the problem stopped. Made a mess doing it- but problem went away> my .02 as they say |

Crowley, 3400 miles for the first piston/sleeve replacements and then 7300 miles for the second. Mike |

When I had mine in for the 3rd flash I mentioned that leak. For me it was an intermittent leak, wouldn't always do it. Dealer checked HD Net and ran it a lot, never leaked, so they said they couldn't do anything about it. Told them what I had read on here, but they "won't" do anything based off an online "chat" site. Guess I have to wait till it leaks sometime next spring. |

I installed the Rev. B clutch cover on my '08 1125R with a new sleeve (I scuffed up the old sleeve, my old cover never leaked). I practiced installing it a couple of times... there is an alignment tab on the sleeve. Even with that tab, there seemed to be varying degrees of "fit" quality, and I wondered if perhaps the leaking some folks are experiencing may be a result of a less-than-perfect installation of the sleeve. You want the tab aligned with notch in the cover (perfectly centered), and after pushing in, should give the sleeve a nice (but careful) whack with a dead blow to have it seat properly. Seemed to work for me. No leaking (oil or hydraulic fluid) for 500 miles since I did the install... Hmm, wonder if I just jinxed myself... (Message edited by Pariah on January 02, 2009) |

I just got my bike back, the dealer replaced the cover and the seals. Put the bike on the trailer and brought it home for the winter and noticed it leaking already. This must be some kind of a record, 0 miles put on it since the repair. |

Chevy, I had the same thing happen to me. The only thing that finally fixed my leaky clutch was when they replaced all of the pistons and sleeves. I had the seals replaced numerous times, but it would only work for a short time and then start leaking again. When they replaced the sleeves, they also said that the sleeve was worn quite a bit. I believe that the tech said the sleeve was aluminum, which may be one of the reasons it wears so easily. Mike |

Kttemplar, thanks for the info. I suspect that the piston and sleeve is worn also. I saw the old seals and noticed slight lines in the seal surface, looks like it had been sealing against a scored surface. I asked the tech but he said that everything looked ok to him. I was afraid that this was going to happen. I guess I'll suggest the piston and sleeve along with the seals next time I take it in. |

I had my o-ring on the rev A puck/ cover replaced with a "new" one (new material or something like that). 4,000 more miles and nary a weep. TIme2Ride. |

well well well I hate to say it but my clutch cover has been leaking from day one. I am about to put the bike in the shop again for the fifth clutch cover to be installed along with all the seals sleeves and everything else Buell tech suggests. My bike only has 4300 miles on it and has always leaked. I hope someone can help me but I have a feeling something worse is wrong. |

I would like to see a new design for the seals. The outer piston seal really looks like it will continue to be troublesome. Some type of a lip seal would be nice. |

My clutch cover started leaking from the pin hole at about 2000 miles. Took it in under warantee, all was good again. Unfortunately, it started leaking again (same spot) at about 9000 miles. This leak was quite slow but got progressively worse. Finally, at about 14000 miles, I replaced 4 o-rings in the secondary clutch actuator area, but only reversed the 2 used clutch piston linings. All was good again. But... started leaking again at about 15000 miles. Took it apart again and this time replaced the 2 piston linings (which I did not replace the first time) and the spherical nut o-ring. This fix took less than 20 minutes to do. No leak for over 5000 miles now. If you want to do it yourself, it is an easy procedure. (especially the second time). If your leak is from the pin hole, I would recommend replacing both piston linings and possibly the spherical nut o-ring. For step 3 in the service manual, "Drain the clutch fluid line", I simply loosened the vent valve to release the clutch fluid (Dot 4). I did not do step 7 or any beyond that. To get the piston to come out, I squeesed the clutch lever very slowly (vent closed). A socket with a visegrip plier did the job of the special Clutch Release Tool. Hopefully this helps, Ray |

I'll give the dealer 1 more try and if they replace the sleeve, piston and seals it will probably last the rest of the warranty period. |

I just noticed mine is leaking with 3000 miles on it today. Seems like it's been doing it for a bit now but I just haven't caught it till now. It's not much, just a weep. Going to call the dealership tomorrow. What is the difference between rev A and B clutch covers? I looked at the new 2009s and they have a bigger puck on the clutch cover as well, is it just the puck or the entire housing? |
