Hey guys, its been a looooong time since I posted but I'm still lurking around here, just no time to share any new stories. OK so by now we all have heard about the free Buell tire gauge? (If you haven't go to the Buell website and download the paper for it.) So I go down to Bowie for college and I happen to pass by the Old Glory H-D and Buell dealer so I stop in to get the gauge. They tell me that I have to demo ride a bike (1125R) and that I would have to 'fill out some paperwork' and then I would get the tire gauge. What a scam! I went the dealer in Frederick Maryland and they gave it to me on the spot. Has this happened to anyone else? |

I would love to take advantage of that deal but I checked the list of participating dealers and none of them are near me. Even the Harley/Buell dealer by me where I bought my Buell new aren't participating. As for having to take a test ride, that's complete BS and I would call that dealer on it. The site states clearly that all you have to do is print and fill out the coupon and take it to your dealer and they will give you one on the spot as long as it's between the dates provided. That is unless they are not in the list of participating dealers which would leave them to set their own rules about it. But since I just now checked and Old Glory is on the list of dealers, they are obligated to give you the gauge without any other requirements than the coupon. No good now since you got one elsewhere but perhaps someone else will read this and be prepared to counter their BS. Thanks for the heads up on the gauge though, I hadn't known about it and will call my local dealer about it even though they aren't on the list. |

Just out of curiosity....what exactly is the problem with test riding an 1125r So you get to take a new bike out for a spin and get a present for it when you're done...I'm failing to see the downside here??? |

Buell normally does 2 promotions a year. One in the winter and one in the summer. The winter one does not require a test ride. I have no problem testing riding a bike I am not going to buy at all. They are breaking an arrangement between Buell and Buell customers. I think we owe it to Buell and future Buell customers to support great dealerships and refuse to do business with poor dealerships like the one you went to. I am not sure if this is a customer service issue but I would write a letter to Buell Customer Service. Let them know what happen; be factual without any emotion and state the facts. This is more powerful than you think. You did right in going to Fredrick HD. I bought my first Buell there many years ago. Frank |

LOL - I have about a dozen of those tire gauges - don't even use them - I use a digital - the Volvo shop I used to work at used to give them away. EZ |

DUDE, ITS FREE! mmmm Must have free stuff aaahhh (in your best Homer voice). And to think I just spent $15 on a Harley gauge! (it was half price and its a nice gauge) Maybe we'll change this thread to the current Buell promotion page, unless the Twin side already has one. Thanks for the heads up. |

Dummkauf - I would have no problem test riding a 1125r, but I didn't have my gear. I know I can't afford to buy a new bike right now and yeah it would be fun to ride one its the matter of what they did. I've got like 3 tire gauges too but this says BUELL on it. It makes it better! |

Chad' -- funny, I went to my dealer (F&S) here in Dayton and presented my coupon and I got the tire guage no problem. There was no forced test ride (of any bike) and the sales guys, Chris and Bill, were really cool. Not to mention, it is under 35*F today, so a test ride would royally suk. I am contemplating a Blast, only becuase I'm too short for the XB9 and the XB12scg. Scary that a dealer wants people to test Buell's badest bike for a super tiny tire guage. This tire guage is SMALL. I think it is 3" in total length. Better luck at another dealer. (Message edited by k03sport on February 16, 2009) |

"Scary that a dealer wants people to test Buell's badest bike for a super tiny tire guage." Kinda along the line of my thoughts. Welcome K03Sport! |

Thanks for the welcome gearhead. It is going to take me a while to learn my way around this type of forum. I usually spend my free time over at vwvortex and they use a slightly different forum engine. I do have a question, but I will search first. If I don't/can't find my answer, I'll start a new thread. |

Old Glory gave me mine without hesitation! Did you talk to a bald white guy? I said, "I have a coupon." He said, "For a tire gauge, right?" I gave him the coupon, he gave me the gauge. I was there on the 13th around lunch time. |

Is that so? I talked to a bald white guy too, I came in on either the 11th or the 13th. And i e-mailed them on the 14th... interesting. Glad you got Reuel, maybe they are giving them out now to everyone. |
