Ok... well I leave my residents in South Ga heading about 100 miles or so West for lunch with the whole family. I wake up thinking... awww... its a tad cold but it sure would be nice to hear that Super Trap exhaust on some back roads where there is NO traffic and most likely no cops. So... knowing that I have been riding the X1 for several weeks and NEVER having any issues, i figure what the hell... I had JUST detailed the bike the night before so it was MEANT TO BE !!! Went to the garage... started her right up and put my gear on while she was warming up. Headed out and BOY was it COLD!!!!! about 45 degrees and the windchill brougth it down to the HIGH 20's... I was about half way to my destination and decided that I would stop at the new gas station and take advantage of a cup of coffee before finishing the last leg of the trip. Up to this point she ran GREAT. The gas station was coming up so i down shift and make the right hand turn... as i make the turn the bike cuts of completely. No electricals no nothing..... I figured i must have hit the kill switch on accident. I coasted in the parking spot and my mind cleared a path and showed me that the ignition key was still full on.... so the lights SHOULD still be working.... they were not. I got off the bike and KNEW from YEARS of owing bikes (especially Buells) to just turn everything off... go get my coffee and then come back after a few minutes of relaxing. I got my coffee and went back outside. I removed the seat and figured that it had to be a fuse issue. Checked all the fuses... turned the key... NOTHING... I thought... wow... thats strange... no issues then all of a sudden... DEAD!!!!! I leaned down looked at the battery... and said no... the cable CANT be loose... I touched it and the cable WAS LOOSE.... A guy pulled up and asked if i needed any help... He had a phillips head and I tightened it down.. BAM!!!!!!!!!!!! power.... ignition.... GOOD TO GO !!!! I knew my girl would not let me down!!! The rest of the trip there and back was PERFECT!!!!!! All in all, I did about 300 miles that day... it was great and i knew why i loved the Buells sooo much.... The attention it got on the road was just funny... Most would look at it while i was riding along side of them and you could almost read their lips.... Well that was my story... She is now back in the garage detailed and polished up. I will be riding in the morning to work Matt. |

Add a 10mm wrench to your kit... more than once I've had to tighten battery terminal bolts. |

I once had a similar encounter. Actually I've had multiple cases of "tighten the batt." disorder but once it cut out and it turned out that the ground cable snapped in two near the terminal. |
