"For the life of me I cannot understand why H-D won't embrace the history of Buell as its own. Why can't they talk it up, emphasize the fact that Erik worked for them as an engineer way back when, and build the image of Buell as the badass backroads brawling brudder that nobody knows about? " Your shopping the wrong shops For me its how can I get this guy off a chrome couch and into something fun. At some point in every one of my sales presentations I will slip in "Have you seen the new Buell?" You would be surprised at how well that works. Maybe it isnt for them, but at least now they have seen it, become aware of the product and hell demo if they can. Its not up to the Mothership to drive every detail. Give us the bikes and we will sell them (INCLUDING THE DIRT BIKE!!!) |

I've owned 10 Hondas and never went to a Honda event. I've owned 1 Buell and have been to at least 10 Buell events. |

Well a few of us got together and threw one badd asss 20th anniversary shin dig. A major understatement Tony: I've got an idea. Court I'm not making drain plugs or Bazooties again, and after doing T-shirts, they're out; but I do have an idea.... |

The unofficial 20th turned into one of my greatest's experiences. While standing around the motel's parking lot talking to Newfie about his trip down to the lower 48 (and several adult beverages) I commented that "Next summer we should come up and visit you!". Several of us, through the Badweb, met up in Newfoundland and had an absolute ball. The best part was my son got to ride along with us for his first big trip. I have actually had more fun on these small activities than the big ones. Maybe that's why I've avoided things like the Hoot and Sturgis. |

Asheville in 1996 was the home to Honda Hoot.. I had been invited to come to help with the Buell Factory Demos of S1, S2 and S2t's. If I remember correctly it was the first time the demo truck/trailer was ever used. BMW and several Japanese manufactures were there with demos but no HD. We actually used a small portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway as part of the demo ride.. What a great time!!!!! |

+1 for your attitude, City- I make a point to mention the Buells whenever I can, anytime someone seems receptive to a pitch. It just seems to me that H-D has taken a studied, deliberately detached stance in associating the bar and shield branding anywhere near Buell. It doesn't have to be this way, nor should it be in my opinion. Imagine a Buell lineup that addresses ALL riders of ALL ages, from peewee on up. You have to come to a H-D/BUELL dealer to get them, and as the lineup progresses toward legal age to ride on the street, start co-identifying the brands in different ways. Kids can grow up learning to ride Buells with the later ages naturally crossing over to some of the hogs. We have no way to build brand loyalty for our machines starting with toddlers like the big 4 do, and that's a shame. |
