Ceramic high heat paint. I still need to install a cone for the back pressure so I wont burn my valves. Sound like a drag bike but deeper rumble though. |

Is that off of the collector, then y's off to dual each side? That's what I was going to have done too except straight off the exhaust BEFORE the collector.I know I will need some back pressure,so what is the cone you will use??Thanks |

At this moment I don't know. I will be picking up a cone from a friend this Friday at a dealership. They suggested (Harley mechanics) that I place it before the 'Y', since I would have to drop the engine to place them on the headers. |

you dont need "back pressure". really you dont. if backpressure was good, you would see hot rods with a belt driven air pump, blowing additional air pressure up their exhaust pipes. trust me on this, your engine puts plenty of pressure into your exhaust pipes already. what you want is to either break-up the shock wave, or transition it to the outside air, with a cone or expansion chamber. this will also have the effect of quieting the exhaust note. if you dont like the look of a cone, you can cut a glass pack muffler in half, gut it , and weld back to gether a nice empty can. this will also help you mid rpm torque, but unfortunately will quiet the bike some. my empty glass pack can runs real well, but doesnt have that sharp crackle that really pisses the neighbors off. also does not backfire on decel like the open headers do. good luck. |
