It was just too much fun not to go outside.
Even the strippers were out having fun.

Come to Wisconsin in the winter. Right now its 4degrees with wind gusts up to 41 mph. Wind chill is -14, with about 2 feet of snow on the ground.

I'm sorry, its -1 with a wind chill of -24.

I'm in McMinnville Oregon and I've got 10 inches in my front yard and the last stuff that fell was the freezing rain. The normal annual snow fall west of the Cascades is zero, This only happens every few years, so the road departments are a little short on snow removal equipment. A lot of the county roads get cleared with road graders so it takes a while.

Normal amount for Seattle proper in a full winter is like maybe half an inch. the town is closed down. The governor and the mayor have been on tv... if you dont have to leave your house, by all means stay home....
Even with all the SUV's in this town, very few know how to drive in it.
The body shops are going to be buzy for months.

Snow is pretty, but I don't miss having to be in it each day for work and school.

This is a cam of where I used to hop on I-5 when I lived in Bellingham. I am glad it never got that way when I lived there.

I have about 10 inches at my house in Ballard ( a neighborhood just north of downtown.) Drove to the Seahawk game yesterday and parked a block away for free! That's never happened before. Those people who took the train to the game got jammed up when the switches on the tracks froze and the trains couldn't go anywhere.

While snow and cold may be the norm some places we panic at a half inch, heck we panic at the threat of snow! I grew up on the east side of the Cascade Mountains so winter snow is not a big deal, but people here are clueless. Watching them drive funny and scary at the same time.

For a city of 600K we have 28 snowplows who's drivers are lucky to get practice every 10 year. They are working very hard but it just won't stop snowing!

I've got to drive across town today to do my payroll otherwise the guys don't get paid! On Christmas Eve we're suppose to fly to New Mexico. Hopefully the airport will get things together by then. Last I heard the tanker full of deicer is stuck in all the snow east of the mountains and can't move!

Isn't winter wonderful?

Seattle shuts down with this kind of snowfall:

Nine inches

This reminds me of the Seattle Supersonics, er, I mean the Oklahoma None-der:

It's about the same here. Growing up in Cincinnati we got snow every year, but here it is rare to see any. If you do see snow it's the good stuff. You know when the temperature is barely below freezing so the roads are wet but the grass is covered. The few times in the past 16 years we have lived here that snow actually stuck to the roads, it was priceless watching the folks trying to manage themselves in it. I will never forget the two guys on the back of a DOT dump truck shoveling sand out at intersections.

Some more snow related humor tonight. While out on my walk I came upon one of our new $500k Hybrid articulated busses jackknifed up against the curb.
I guess the engineers at New Flyer (and GM) never thought a rear engined bus with the drive axle on the rear trailer section to be handling nightmare. The poor driver attempted to move up the gentle slope, but the bus could not straighten itself out.

So they called in a giant tow truck, and a separate push truck. Both attempted to pull/push the bus up the hill.

Finally the tow truck operator let out all of his cable (80ft or so) in an attempt to tow it up the hill to better ground.
Of course all this did was drag the tow truck back down the hill to the bus.

I watched them work on it for a good 45mins. Finally with several buckets of sand, a fresh set of chains on the bus they got it free.
Isn't snow fun?
