Well here we go folks, all of the stink raised over the auto makers and the pay and bennies labour vs Execs,

AP did a piece over the weekend sure to raise your BP. about 1.6 billion of the bail money has gone to executive pay by their accounting

Today the MSN folks say that some of the banks that they have contacted are telling
they can't tell them where the money went.

Class warfare?, blatent greed?, blinding incompetence in washington?,

I just have to wonder, time to change the culture?,
the persons on the hill?
time to stop the handouts?

I have to wonder how far this will go

it has gotten so ludricress as to be amusing

Protection from our government and their bad decisions? How do we get that? Who's gonna bail out Average American Joe when his taxes are so high that he can afford anything else?

Let them fall. Ford doesn't need bail out money. That's the only car I'd own. Our bank is locally owned and solvent. It's time the folks who created this mess pay their just dues.

This is (and will be) a CLASSIC EXAMPLE of the unintended consequences of a policy of "do something ANYTHING - even if it's wrong."

This is what happens when we suffer under the mistaken idea that we MUST do something without slowing down to consider the consequences.

There'll be MUCH MORE of the same... ditto for the automakers.

If I were invested in a company making such bad choices, I'd be selling the stock... as a taxpayer, I don't have that choice; I'm being FORCED to make these "investments"

And in the local news:
http://www.jsonline.com/newswatch/36571439.html

quote:

Auto suppliers report 54% of workers on layoff or reduced hours
By Rick Barrett of the Journal Sentinel
Dec. 22, 2008 11:06 a.m. | Fifty-four percent of manufacturers that produce parts for automakers and a wide range equipment companies have employees either on layoff or working reduced hours this month, according to a business conditions survey from the Precision Metalforming Association, an Ohio-based trade group with Wisconsin membership.

That's up from 42% in November and 18% a year ago.

"Business conditions for many metal-forming companies are extraordinarily challenging," William Gaskin, PMA president, said in a statement.

"Suppliers to the automotive industry have been hit especially hard by production declines due to poor car sales in the fourth quarter, and the outlook for the first quarter of 2009 is only marginally improved," he added.

>>>>Our bank is locally owned and solvent.

There are times I miss Topeka, KS. 5 minute segment a week of so on the TODAY show about Capital Federal Savings and Loan and Mr. Henry Bubb.

They are stronger and ever and, bucking the trend, have always held steadfastly to rigid loan application requirements and have been professionally run. That's what made them the first "small" bank with over $1B in assets and makes them strong today.

Common sense should be.

It would take one of these to get the desired affect, as the rat's nest is rather large

It has always been that way and always will...as soon as there is trouble management at any level is ready to cut the fat where the money is made, the blue collar worker...i can remember when it was 1 white collar for every 1 blue collar...i'm sure some of you can remember when there were more blue collor than white collar workers...now it is 3 white collar to 1 blue collar. Really where is the fat...it seems to me that every manager needs 5 people to do their job for them and so on...It is unfair for just the work force who actually makes the product and the money for the company to be the ones to take a pay cuts. IMO

There is a plastics industry in this area where the management had a meeting with their union employees asking them to take pay cuts and benefit cuts (I saw this happen first hand to me and my fellow employees when i worked for York International in Pennsylvania)...when the work force asked if management would take the cuts with them, management told right to their face no we will not...Freaking corporate greed is what it all boils down to...rich get richer and middle class falls closer to being in the poor house!!!

Do you think it will ever get bad enough that the general population will say"enough is enough"....and get motivated to do something about it all ........or just keep being spoon fed the BS?

Just say it in song....

Rioting—the unbeatable high
Adrenalin shoots your nerves to the sky
Everyone knows this town is gonna blow
And it's all gonna blow right now….

Now you can smash all the windows that you want
All you really need are some friends and a rock
Throwing a brick never felt so damn good
Smash more glass
Scream with a laugh
And wallow with the crowds
Watch them kicking peoples' ass

But you get to the place
Where the real slavedrivers live
It's walled off by the riot squad
Aiming guns right at your head
So you turn right around
And play right into their hands
And set your own neighbourhood
Burning to the ground instead

Chorus
Riot—the unbeatable high
Riot—shoots your nerves to the sky
Riot—playing into their hands
Tomorrow you're homeless
Tonight it's a blast

Get your kicks in quick
They're callin' the national guard
Now could be your only chance
To torch a police car

Climb the roof, kick the siren in
And jump and yelp for joy
Quickly—dive back in the crowd
Slip away, now don't get caught

Let's loot the spiffy hi-fi store
Grab as much as you can hold
Pray your full arms don't fall off
Here comes the owner with a gun

Chorus

The barricades spring up from nowhere
Cops in helmets line the lines
Shotguns prod into your bellies
The trigger fingers want an excuse
Now

The raging mob has lost its nerve
There's more of us but who goes first
No one dares to cross the line
The cops know that they've won

It's all over but not quite
The pigs have just begun to fight
They club your heads, kick your teeth
Police can riot all that they please

Chorus

Tomorrow you're homeless
Tonight it's a blast

My cousin Ron has worked for Chrysler for over 35 years, in the Newark Assembly Plant in Delaware. They closed the plant and laid of most of the workers.

There were 30 vehicles on the assembly line that were not finished when the last shift had left. Now that Chrysler has decided to close the plant permanently, they called some line foreman to come to the plant and finish the 30 vehicles.

My cousin and the other men showed up at the plant, they were met by management and were told that they were sorry but they did not have the funds to pay the men for the days work and they were to go home.

My cousin is 58 years old and has no skills other than working in the paint shop as foreman for over 30 years..

The future is dim for so many of these workers, they might have been paid well by many standards but will most certainly have a very difficult time finding gainful employment, lets see if their blessed union will do anything now that the dues will not be paid...
