Will the standard, I'm guessing cast aluminum primary cover polish up to a shine? I'm trying to give the dull gray color some more shine without taking them off of the engine. It's probably a simple question but was just wondering if anyone else has done this. |

If it's the smooth cover, it sure will. Seeing your profile, and that you have an M2, it looks like you're going to have the pebble-finish cover. It is aluminum, but that cover is gonna take a LOT of work to polish as you have to remove the textured finish. You may be best served by finding an ebay cover in polished finish (S1, S2, I think S3), along with inspection and derby covers; polish them off-bike; get a primary gasket, quart of fluid, and updated primary shoe (yours should have it, but it's cheap and nice to have a spare); spend an hour or so swapping them out. Swapping covers is as simple as removing the screws, and torquing them back on in sequence. |
