Wouldn't you think this may help with getting people in the Buell dealerships if they see the dealership is getting involved with the bikes more. It would possibly open the doors to more aftermarket no??? http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?artic le=35157 |

Did they do that already or was it a magazine? |

I don't think they have done this before. I know they did the Ducati challenge. In which the factory had a contest for the owner of all years of Monsters. This one though is for the dealerships to do. The body work is supplied to them. I think its a cool idea. |

They did their superbike contest a couple years ago. People entered customs and original condition models. Many were excited over it though they felt it might have been rigged afterward. I suggested on here recently to have a show/contest at Homecoming. Let Erik and the elves pick their favorites. Even have them create their own unique plaque/trophies. Might get something like that 2 wheel tuner mag to give it press. Seemed like an idea with many positives for all. (Message edited by Oddball on December 10, 2008) |

The HD dealer here did a custom contest in his showroom on 5 bikes, Sportster to Touring. Don't know how much traffic it generated, but the bikes sold quickly. |

they did this for the S2R. when it came out they gave well known custom shops a bike to customize, then they all competed for votes. the winning shop won a S2R to keep. this was shown on superbikes like 2 years ago. ford did the same thing once with the mustang and gm did it once with the HHR. i think it was on rides when GM did it and the winner got a SSR (shows you how old this is) legally they had to sell the HHR's to the shops for like a dollar. |

Yes that was the Ducati challenge and yes it was on Superbike's. But no they did not give a bike to dealers to customize. It was owners of Monsters of all years. Remember the one that was done like a tiger and had a tail??? That bike placed and it was 5 years old at the time. Met the guy the year before last on Canery Row during the Moto GP races at Mazda Speedway. Sorry you have your info wrong. |
